“My room had not been hoovered; really uncomfortable bed and there was a constant dripping noise overnight - terrible night sleep.”

My only minor criticism is being 6’3 the light they’d fitted to the single room was basically at face height so I cracked my head a couple of times getting in and out of bed. Otherwise would recommend for a cheap stay.”

“The Beach Hotel is a social enterprise run by the YMCA as an apprenticeship scheme. In light of this we had quite modest expectations for our stay. But these were misplaced - the hotel is spotlessly clean, and run by professional, welcoming staff. The occasion was a large family reunion, and the restaurant served us all with a good simple dinner in an efficient and timely way. Service was excellent. “As I find stairs difficult with luggage, and no lift, staff were helpful and changed my room from 1st floor to ground. Staff were pleasant but bar service could be improved. The waiter was covering the kitchen and bar. He walked past me twice, while I stood at the bar, but I still had to open the door to the kitchen, and call, I had to ask for ice and lemon, but didn't get the lemon, it didn't seem available. Just small things really but could be improved. ”

“First time at this hotel, staying for one night. A quick visit to Tiverton on the way home from a few days in Bideford to see the Grand Western Canal and assess the potential for a future longer visit. Overall, facilities, food and staff excellent, decor a little tired. Free parking on site a major advantage. Room comfortable, but no USB ports provided to charge phones etc. However, will definitely consider coming back at a later date. ”

“Easy to find and had plenty of parking when I arrived. Communication for check in and check out was very good. The ensuite room was great - very clean, nice temperature, and very well-appointed. The lodge does not offer breakfast or dining but is just a 5 minute walk into the city centre. Overall it was great value - can highly recommend and would return. ”
