Enjoyable stay.

Overall impression of our stay was very good. House is very eclectic in its decoration and the backyard is outstanding. Dining area close to kitchen was great for family get togethers. Everything we needed for our 4 day stay was here for us. Like most of the San Diego area there is no A/C but nights are cool and we slept well. Homeowner provided us with plenty of portable fans which made a big difference. Plenty of spacious bedrooms and our 6 year old grandson enjoyed his bedroom with sliding wood doors. For those staying for longer than a few days there is no immediate access to washer/dryer but homeowner is more than willing to arrange for it to be done. Neighborhood is very very quiet. One of the other and important things about this home is the flexibility of the homeowner and access to them. We needed access before 3 pm check in day and upon request it was granted as my 3year old granddaughter must take naps in the afternoon. House is located 5 minutes from Legoland and @10 minutes from downtown Carlsbad and the beach. Shopping & restaurants are also very close. Our family of 6 adults & 2 small children enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful and Comfortable place !!

The house is rightly situated in a nice and calm Carlsbad community. It was quite big (exactly as shown in pictures) with great artwork. Our friends and family loved the house..specially backyard was green and big for the kids to run around while you can sit comfortably and sip coffee. We would love to come back here again.. Last but not least, home owner Liza was extremely helpful and available to answer any questions and even recommended places to visit.Overall great stay will highly recommend !!

Great Home for big family.

We rented this great home from Liza as my father had passed away and our big family was coming from all parts of the United States to attend the funeral at Miramar National Cemetery. I actually met Liza who was there making sure the place was good to go for us. She was very helpful in answering all questions and anything that we might need. She was very compassionate to our situation and went out of her way to make sure we were all comfortable. My oldest son Jason was very appreciative as they had just escaped Hurricane Henry before it slammed into Houston. The home is very warm and peaceful with all the art and tranquility. We had a minor issue with the freezer but I texted her and she was very prompt in getting back to us. The House is in a nice quiet neighborhood and close to the beach and other attractions. We really were impressed with the place and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to relax while visiting Southern California. Thank you Liza for letting us use your home for a few nights as we celebrated the life of our Dad. Your place made it that more special and for that, we will always be greatful.

Beautiful home, great location, gracious hosts!

Peaceful retreat -- what a fantastic place for personal downtime and to recharge! Gorgeous home, very quiet and well kept, and the hosts are wonderful. On a beautiful piece of property on a quiet street in one of the most coveted areas in North County San Diego. Oh so quiet here, yet close to beaches and all North County San Diego attractions. Highly recommend!

Beautiful s cal home

We found this home to fit all of our needs. We were a group of 7, the house was very spacious and functional for us. Its in a great neighborhood very close to the beach. We loved being able to grill outside in the big, beautiful backyard. This house is perfect for a big group. There are lots of walking trails around which are perfect for getting exercise or taking your dog. I would recommend this house to anyone who wants a quiet getaway to relax and enjoy southern california.

I want to extend a big thanks to let you know how wonderful it was to work with you in planning our vacation at the above location;, even though I did not meet you personally but just talked on the phone and corresponded on the internet with you. My family spent a week at your lovely home and we all enjoyed it tremendously. This was by far the best week we ever had all together. The pictures of the house were exactly as stated in the description with all the necessary items there. The location was great and close to all that we love. The house was elegantly furnished and had an “avant garde” look. The views from the MB bedroom upstairs were spectacular. The finale came on July 4th after gorging down all the prepared delicious food, we had a view of the fireworks from the La Costa Resort.

Family vacation - the perfect house for us!

I found this home after researching many VRBO properties and it was fabulous for our family of 10 adults & 4 pre-school children! We stayed for 8 days over Canadian Thanksgiving in 2013 and all of our family members couldn't have been happier with this beautiful home, they each thanked me for choosing it. The house is very spacious and tastefully decorated, the backyard is huge & nicely landscaped with almost complete privacy - the property is on a hill overlooking Carlsbad without any houses behind, so it was great for barbecues out on the patio with lots of space for the kids to play while the adults relaxed, its located in a very quiet & peaceful lovely neighborhood. Our dog enjoyed running in the yard and on the trails in the area. The interior of the house is much nicer than we imagined, we found it to be clean and well maintained with every amenity readily available. The design & lay-out is excellent, it has comfortable sitting areas both inside & out with more than adequate bed and bathrooms for all 14 of us including a large open kitchen where we enjoyed cooking together. This home truly is a gem! Carlsbad is a fabulous city with lots of shopping & restaurants; perfectly situated to vacation in the area - we could easily drive to & from San Diego as well as up to the LA area - Legoland, Sea World, Disneyland and great Beaches were all easy to get to. The owner and her assistants were very accessible & communicated clearly, they responded to all of my emails and multiple questions promptly before, during & after our stay and thoroughly explained everything to me. I highly recommend Liza to you. She was also gracious, flexible and generous in terms of our arrival and departure dates. You will not find a better home for such a reasonable price! Thank you, we highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.

Hawaii Feel in Elegant Palace is Carlsbad San Diego

What more could we want to feel at home? We came to go to legoland and sea world and discovered carlsbad. The house felt so warm and had tons of character, art and beauty with the biggest back yard we have ever had on renting vacation homes. It felt like we were in hawaii between great weather and so many palm trees and plants. Private yet so close to everything. Felt like an estate but was in a high end neighborhood called Aviara. We read up on Aviara and its a master planned newer community upper scale with 40% green belt and so much beauty. The owners were gracious. We had all we needed at our fingertips. The pantry was so fully stocked we had all the spices and staples so shopping was easy. The views were better than the photos. Everthing was very clean and easy to access. We read a previous post and don't understand why anyone would not be happy with this rental even if there were no trash bags, which there are and two water filters, which a lot of homes don't have one and we don't expect them. WE buy bottled water but the filters are great for cooking for us. We met the maids on our way in and we were impressed that they could clean such a large home so well. The master made us feel total resort style above Four Seasons golf couse on a canyon, WE walked to the park and took the trails with our dogs. WE spent a lot of time in the kitchen. We go yearly to san diego and we highly recommend the convienienc of this home from booking to staying here to our departure. Cant say there was a thing wrong with this home unless you want to be nit picky and complain, but why. We read the previous post and have paid more for homes like this. Its a great deal all around. House was NICE but the communication was NOT

We found the house itself was pretty nice and pleasant, the overall renting experience was satisfactory but the experience could have been much better if the owners were more attentive to our concerns during the stay. First, we found that there is no filtered water available in the house. Water from the refrigerator and from the bottom of sink was out of order. The lady owner initially listened to our concern on the phone but the husband later said the drinking system has been simply broken from the previous leasers and he had no plan to fix it while we were there. As a result, we had to buy bottled water for drinking, which was okay but not great. Second, we found that the way owners (particularly husband since he seems to be around in the area and seems to be responsible for any maintenance issue) respond to our concern was non-empathetic but business-like. When the gas from the grill was run out, the owner said that 'this is not a hotel service.' He went on to say that we can buy a new gas tank with our cost. In addition, the house does not have any trash bag, nor detergent for dishwasher. After searching for these items thoroughly and after waiting more than 24 hours for response to our concerns, what we heard was the same message that they can’t do anything for it. Certainly these non-equipped items could be regarded as minor but the way owner responded to our concern was not satisfactory. The bottom line was that there are probably many other ways to convey the same message but we found that the owner's response was pretty unpleasant. Finally, this is an overall comment that applies to the first two concerns described above and is probably alluded between the lines above. The communications were not ideal between the renters and rentees, especially while we stay in the property. Communication was the best when we made a contract. After contract, when we had questions on property or the areas, owners’ or agent response were mediocre at best. During our stay, the communication was terrible. There are two phone numbers given for the communication. Each seems to lead to voice message-- we probably tried more than 10 times during our stay but nothing went through directly. The return to the voice message was not immediate either. It took at least four hours in the first day (we had some trouble to get in the house first time but eventually figured it out), and took more than 24 hours next. Long Term Vacation Home / Health Event Hosting

I am an owner of real estate rentals, and a health client of the owner. The owners regularly host health events and open their home to others to stay and vacation rent. I have been in the home every 3 months for a weekend health event for the last eight years and also on occasion with colleagues for vacation rental. The home is a very large with a beautiful floor plan. It has very high ceilings in the living room and entry way and beautiful travertine and hardwood flooring throughout. The house is very clean and eco friendly which I very much appreciate. The home never has odors and always smells good. There are lots of windows and sliding doors to let in light and fresh air. There are beautiful paintings throughout and built in cabinetry in the office and in the master bedroom closet. The master bathroom and master closet are as large as a room. There are plenty of places for sleeping. I recommend both the quality and character of the owners. This home has all the space and amenities needed in a house. It is near the beach, shops, restaurants, centers of entertainment and one exit from LEGOLAND. I always enjoy the peace and quiet of the canyon lot with the huge back yard and no neighbors behind you, only a hiking trail and a beautiful view. I love the hiking trail for a nice peaceful walk. Gorgeous Expansive RE-UNION by NEIGHBOR

We had family from back east and not enough room for all of the visitors. I knew my neighbor vacation rentals their home. Its the nicest house on the block and Has HUGE palm trees and the display of it is beautiful. it has the largest lot around and everyone is envious of it. We were asked to post to vouch for our neighbors home and our great experience with the rental. I reviewed their other listings and felt compelled to write because we know them personally and they have always treated everyone here and ourselves and in renting very graciously and give great rates to referrals and neighbors alike, or those that cannot afford, it. Not like some of the rentals we know in our same area, Aviara, where the homes are very pricey and upper scale, most will not discount. We got a neighbor discount and when staying in this home almost did not want to go back to ours. We joined three generations so we could have enough room to really hang out and all be in the same place for our Moms birthday. Lots of peace and quite here and views, with the feeling of being in the country because we are so close to beach but no houses behind this one but a canyon preserve and below that the golf course and a walking trail right behind the house for hiking. We live a few blocks away down the hill and we always wondered about being up a bit higher, and for sure the views are commanding. The house was very clean and we loved the master HUGE bathroom with three vanities, a to die for built in closet that I don't even have at home and a built in office suite, great for my husband to work as we were here on his office things but not have to go to work. We would recommend this house to anyone anyday and will be using it for family again. Do not miss out or believe in a bad post, the owners are well appreciated by the renters we have witnessed and the neighbors, There is absolutely nothing here but a great home and homeowner and vacation palace! We will visit this home when the owners are here on occasion as well as rent again any day! The Roberts family.

An unfortunate and unpleasant experience

This home is spacious, nicely decorated and has the potential to be a great vacation home. However, numerous things happened that were unfortunate. The freezer leaked. Light bulbs were burned out. The promised pack-and-play for our baby didn’t have all the parts to make it fully operable. The lease promised that all linens were washed with “no allergy, non-scented” detergent, but the only laundry soap left that we were instructed to use was regular Tide. There were large construction materials left out in a bedroom. Those were the “little things” and no rental home is ever perfect. What made this vacation really unfortunate was the rental experience. Bottomline: the home was double-booked, we couldn’t stay the first night of our pre-paid vacation and the owner refused to refund our money for the night. The previous family thought they had the home for an additional day and we found out when we arrived at check-in time after a 7-hour drive. This left us and our extended family (including 6 children ranging from 6-years -old to 10-months-old) without a place to sleep for our first night. When I called the homeowner that evening, she hung up on me! We had to stay the first night at the only available hotel in the area. When the other family realized their error in reading their lease (which apparently contradicted a different start date sent in e-mail by the owner) later that night, they called us and offered to pay ½ of our hotel bill as an apology to us. When we returned from our vacation, I emailed the homeowner asking for the refund for the first night. She refused to refund us for the night we pre-paid and didn’t get to use. She said that money the other family paid to help us with our hotel expenses WAS our refund. That was never the understanding between us and the family nor us and the owner. The other family helped with our hotel bill because they felt badly, not as a way to refund us for the rent we paid the homeowner! After receiving a series of unpleasant e-mails from the homeowner, we had to go through our credit card to get the refund. Keep in mind that we were only asking for the refund of the one night, not the entire cost of our stay or the increased amount that we were forced to pay at the hotel. Renting this home was a bad experience and being called “ungrateful” and accused of extortion only made the rental experience even more sad. There may be many excuses, but I suggest erring on the side of caution.

AWESOME ARTISTIC ESTATE

My family had a large group. We needed space, and several eating areas. The house was amazing to say the least. We had many areas to branch out and relax from eating to sleeping to lounging in more than one living room. There was an extended studio with lots of extra blankets and futons so we could have the kids go anywhere. We had privacy and the best views we have had in a rental. THe owners were accessible and easy to work with, allowing us early check in and check out so we could work our flights. THe floors were stone and wood and boasted stunning staircase, high celilngs, plenty of bright light and tons of windows, making it feel like a palace. The art work made the home so warm and picasso like. Color and vibrancy made us feel good here. The yard was amazing with a hawaii tropical feel and lots of palm trees and flowers. Our vacation was right here in our same city, but it could have been hawaii, but a fraction of the cost. We are coming back for our reunions. Our dog was so happy to run in a big yard and there was a six foot wall and gating, so we could feel safe. A canyon hiking trail was right behind the house so my parents and I stayed in and didn't even use the car but once. THanks to the owners, hats off to the best lot in the area.

Wonderful and Spacious Home

A group of friends and I stayed in this beautiful home in early May. We all loved it. There was plenty of space to sleep in with all of the bedrooms and a lot of room to lounge in when we were relaxing. There was even an exercise room for some yoga or Pilates. Carlsbad had wonderful weather. We spent a good amount of time in the huge backyard, throwing a baseball around. The beach was < 5 minutes away, and we found plenty of restaurants and markets around for food. I highly recommend staying here, and would love to do so next time I'm in Carlsbad.

I found my retirement area.

Simply put this is an amazing property, the owner is one of the nicest people on earth and she has two assistance that mirror her. We had a party of 12, all adults and there was more then enough room. The house had all the amenities and more, the location was prime with a spectacular view. The pictures on the website don't do this house any justice, this house was well decorated more spacious then the pictures could ever show online. As a matter of fact my party was almost all law-enforcement they are very hard to please and they gave me a hard time because we normally stay on the beach.... After a tour of the house all started thanking me for finding this house they love it. Fyi the beach was right down the street , we vacation all over the United States east coast/west coast and this sits in our top two locations. Why you might ask!!!! Well it was simply that good!!!!! A quite location, beautiful, well maintained, the house and smelled great, many amenities to include free phone, internet, Last the owner was a sweety. I recommend this to anyone that want's the get the most for your money.

Gorgeous house with a gorgeous backyard.

We rented this house in April for a weekend family gathering with about 10 people sleeping at the house. We were coming from several different states, and wanted to be near each other rather than staying at a hotel. The house is very large, with high ceilings and lots of windows, and it is beautifully decorated. The front and back yards are gorgeously landscaped and we felt immediately relaxed once we stepped through the doors to the back yard and sat at the patio table. Hanging out in the backyard at any time of the day was so peaceful and serene, and is definitely my favorite part of the house! The views are amazing from the back yard and from the master bedroom balcony. The house and yards are very clean and it was well stocked with everything we needed. We all decided we want to stay at this house for our next family gathering, but longer than a weekend – it just was not enough time.

Exceeded expectations

My friends and I rented this place to avoid being in separate hotel rooms since there were 14 of us children included. Even though we were disappointed at first that we didn't get a place at the beach, this was a very very relaxing home, and we didn't feel crowded at all. The kids could roam and play and we didn't even feel them. The view from the master bedroom is amazing, and the backyard is zen and nice to hang out in. Attention to details was very nice, we appreciated the many many towels available for use. and the full kitchen. Even though we walked in very late with exhausted kids, everyone was so eager to go around and see it all, and right away kids wanted to move in for an extended periods. For sure pictures don't do it justice. If I go to Legoland again, this is where I'd want to stay. Thanks for hosting us!
