“I have to say that the hotel met absolutely my expectations. The room was comfortable, nice and clean. Furthermore the hotel staff was really nice and friendly. The only negative aspect was the cleaning of the toilet once we were staying in the room. For instance, in 4 nights we had the same towels although, I imagine that they would have solved the problem inmediately if I had notified it. In general, everything was quite good. I strongly recommend it.”

“Food is excellent but dinner service was very slow.
Hotel is a little dated.
The bedside, round 3 pin plug sockets are useless unless you have appliances with old style plugs or an adapter. Toilet cistern was leaking and there was a small leak on the towel radiator. The seal on the shower screen was not in contact with the bath top, so floor became wet through after taking a shower.
Lots of plastic flowers adorned the hotel.
Hotel is very well located if you plan to visit Beamish museum.”

“Pleasant stay at the Seaton Lane Inn with a little hiccup of no towels in the room on arrival but was remedied straightaway. Check in was quick and easy although steep stairs to the upper level of the Inn rooms. May be a little difficult for older people to negotiate these.
Had food in the restraunt one night and enjoyed the steak which was cooked as asked and the service was also good from the waiter.
Check out was also quick and easy so a very good stay at a good hotel.”

“Farnley Tower is a very attractive building in a lovely location, easily walkable (but be aware that Durham is VERY hilly) to and from the city centre, the cathedral, and the castle/university campus.
I’ll say up front that we are somewhat more critical than most because we travel full time. This stay was the second-last in 5 months of continuous travel, and we’d had many, many excellent stays against which to compare it.
Our first impression was that Farnley was lovely, but unloved. The...
