“Great hotel with a majestic view”

“A very quirky, interesting, historical Hotel a short stroll from all the amenities that Swanage have to offer. Friendly helpful staff from start to finish, all very knowledgeable regarding the history of the hotel. It’s obviously like the forth bridge regarding the upkeep and maintenance, but that’s expected with an old building,it adds to its charm. All areas were clean and tidy. “Fue un poco diferente a lo esperado, la habitación era minuscula, desde ventana solo veiamos el tejado del bar y teniamos la salida de humos delante. Habia arañas por todas partes, la cama se inclinava hacia el cabezero. Tuvimos que dormir en los pies. De los pies de la cama a la paret habia 10 cm. Con mucha humedad. Es un lugar para nada recomendable. El almuerzo era acceptable. ”

“David and Lorna were lovely. Nice warm welcome and explained what was on offer and asked if there was anything that we needed. They were off on a short family break leaving the In Laws to cover Breakfast etc. Incl checking out and settling the bill 'if this had not already been done with David or Lorna before they had left'. Slight Communication breakdown we felt but overall had a fab stay. Reccommeded by us.”

“Room was spacious, great shower. However the room we were in (an upgraded room) was over the kitchen and every morning at 7am something started up and all we could hear was the hum of it which is annoying when you would like a lie in. We ate both nights in the pub. The food is good but very pricey. On our 2nd night we both had a special which was gammon, 1egg, chips, pinapple and piccalily. “Great rural location (i am not a golfer), really nice room, clean and comfortable and reasonably stylish. Only let downs were; paper thin walls so could hear quiet conversations in the adjacent rooms, and a noisy shower (neighbour showered at 1am!). it was a heatwave; room fans were provided but it would have been good to fully ventilate the rooms. Due to work commitments i had to leave before breakfast so can't comment on that.”

“Very welcoming and ideal for travellers with pets . Great location , walking distance to the coastal path and very close drives to National Trust areas such as Corfe Castle and Studland beaches”

“We got a very warm welcome and the hotel is characterful. All the staff were helpful. The food was very good and the breakfast was very enjoyable with quality ingredients. The only thing we didn’t like was that we booked two rooms, one being a twin and of a higher standard than the double. We were offered two of the same lower grade rooms. We were eventually given the second better room which was lovely, but if it hadn’t been available we would have been paying a premium for the lower...
