It was more expensive than a hotel, but it had plenty of space for the 3 of us (with room to spare - we could have easily fit 2-3 more people) and it offered a safe, quiet, and comfortable retreat after each day of SO many steps (and sometimes rain). “We certainly enjoyed our stay at the houseboat. Monnickendam is a cute little town with a nice market, shops and restaurants. Just a 10 minutes walk to the bus stop into Amsterdam - very convenient. On the houseboat you find everything you need. Perfect spot in the evening is on the rooftop. Our host provided us with a very warm welcome. Communication was easy and very pleasant. Getting used to the dry toilet is a little challenge - there are „normal“ toilets in the main building.”
