Lots of property perks

The room was not clean, cobwebs, clogged bath tub, dirty pillow case, dirty floors, ceiling fans growing fur. This was a condo not obtained thru Pono Kai direct so it was not serviced by Pono Kai.

Great place to stay

So many great activities to do on site and it is close to town and the beach. We will definetly stay here again. And the owner had all kinds of stuff in the condo for us to use; snorkels, cooler, beach chairs, etc.

Excellent location

Nice open floor plan, excellent location for easy access to the rest of the island. Couldn’t have any food out on the lanai due to the number of chickens. Grounds and beach access were wonderful. Enjoyed our stay would come back again!

Unit review

Love the location of the property. Unit itself is due for some upgrades. Bed was comfortable, but because there is no air conditioning in the bedroom, I had to sleep on the couch for it to be cool enough.

Relaxing vacation

Pono Kai has always felt like a second home to us; relaxing and comfortable. We notified vacasa that the screen and patio needed attention and this was dealt with the next day. the location is accessible to the bus routes and grocery store so we didn't rent a car.

Pretty typical rental with adequate amenities. Unit was clean and located near beach, restaurants and shopping. There is a good deal of noise from other units as mentioned in other reviews but not so much as to change rating. Staff was pleasant and responsive. Overall, a reasonable unit for the price.

Great Location in Kauai

We really enjoyed the ground floor Lanai and the location to the beach walk and bike ride ! Only 2 complaints . A lot of sound transfer from neighbor above and couch quite saggy

Great Location, Great Space

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and really enjoyed the location and space. The unit is spacious and very clean (albeit slightly outdated with an uncomfortable couch) and included supplies for outings (beach towels, cooler, umbrella, snorkel gear). The AC unit keeps the living room and kitchen areas cool; the bedroom does get a bit hot at night, but nothing terrible with the ceiling fan and provided box fan running. The Pono Kai Resort is very pretty, has all the accommodations you'd generally want, is beachside, and in walking distance to a solid variety of food and shopping options throughout the town of Kapa'a. The resort is also equidistant-ish to both the south and north shores, reducing drive time for day trips. Would definitely stay here again!

You could hear all the footsteps from unit above. Sometimes until after midnight and early morning. VERY ANNOYING and disruptive to sleep!!

My wife needs to work when we travel And it was impossible to connect to herVPN , the speed of the internet that the owner pays for is to slow. Also noise from above was really bad

Anniversary Vacation

We stayed six nights at this property to celebrate our anniversary. It was clean and a very large, end unit. Being first floor wasn't too bad, but the person above was rather loud at all times of day and night. The outside chickens/roosters were not an issue. You could occasionally hear them. We were missing the lounge chair, which would have been nice. Looks like all other units had one. All basic supplies were available and we enjoyed the complimentary treats that were left for us. Other resort activities (hot tub, hammocks, croquet, lawn games) were nice to have on relaxing days.

Not a nice place - don't recommend

it was a dump and super hot in the bedroom, 3 forks in kitchen, the bath and kitchen not very clean and the entire kitchen leaves a lot to the imagination, needs help. if you saw up close pics, you would laugh, peeling stick on's, uneven and tired and old. The staff that came to help was a few days later and gave us a fan that didn't do much, i ended up purchasing a fan at Walmart that worked. that place is way too expensive for what you get. Thankfully it was only a week. The staff that came to assist was super nice and helpful, but the owner really needs to update that place and do a deep clean!

Gorgeous Pono Kai complex, spacious & comfortable

We loved our 2 weeks in this wonderful property. The unit is nicely decorated, spacious and clean. We were greeted by a welcome package of macadamia nuts, cookies, granola and coffee. We cooked/bbq a lot, and found everything we needed was provided, including a dish washer! There was a cooler with ice packs, 4 folding chairs, boogie boards, a beach umbrella and beach towels. Coin Laundry is a few doors down, and they provided soap. There are shared bbqs around the property. Pono Kai resort is beautifully landscaped, with a lovely beach, pool, hot tub and hammocks, and you can request use of ping pong, croquet, darts and other games. There are multiple restaurants close by, and the Big Save Market is a few minutes walk (and cheaper than Safeway.) Kapa'a area is convenient for exploring the island, sort of midway between the south shore and north shore. Each day we would check the weather forecast for Kapa'a, Princeville and PoiPu, and then decide which side of the island to visit. Property managers were very accessible via text. We had trouble with the sliding screen door coming off the track. Someone came out to fix it within an hour or so. Slight negative - you hear noise from upstairs when the neighbors are walking around. It's a wooden structure, with poor sound barriers. We didn't find it too much of a problem. There are roosters crowing a lot; chickens are everywhere in Kauai! We found them amusing.

Simple and clean

Had everything we needed even a small soft sided cooler that was perfect for a day at the beach! Very clean. Centrally located on the island, walking distance to a few great coffee shops and shopping. Read reviews about the couch being uncomfortable, but there was new couch that isn’t pictured in the ad. Comfy bed. Great clean resort with lots of BBQ grills and games for families

Amazing Place!

We loved the location. A very clean condo. The resort had so many things to do there (lawn games, tennis, horse shoes & many more). We were on the ground floor and you could walk steps to the pool and the beach. We did not rent a car and there were plenty of things to do and places to eat in walking distance. We also used Uber to do some fun things close by. They supplied snorkel equipment (didn’t use because we brought our own), beach mats, cooler, lawn chairs and umbrella. We ate 2 meals a day there and the kitchen was great, fully stocked with supplies. We brought food and bought the perishables at the grocery store just up the street. We used the BBQ grill and they have beautiful gas fire pits you can sit around and hammocks to lounge in. I would go again it was amazing and so much fun!
