There is so much to love about this home. I think a couple of details could be made more clear: when the listing says outdoor showers, it means NO indoor showers. Each bedroom has an indoor en-suite toilet/bidet and vanity, but no indoor bathing option. Each bedroom has its own fenced outdoor shower garden, as depicted in the photos for the listing. These gardens are lovely and private from other people, but you will absolutely encounter local insects — especially if you want to bathe at night. We have been to Kauai many, many times and understand that cockroaches, centipedes, slugs and mosquitos are part of the local ecosystem, but no one in our party wanted to bathe outdoors at night given the critter situation.The house was spotless. The location feels super private and you can walk to the beach. The cottage has a very well equipped kitchen, great appliances, and super comfortable beds. The vintage couches are cool looking, but don’t allow a party of 3 (or more) to stretch out at the same time. Just keep this in mind if you like to watch movies together in the evenings. The Sonos system and smart TV were great for streaming music, shows and movies. The property, plantings and pond are gorgeous. Beach equipment was brand new and super convenient. The gas grill was also fantastic. Overall it is a lovely and carefully designed space, you just need to go in clear eyed about the showers and couches.
