A world of subterranean wonders, a milestone in geological discoveries, Luray caverns, is a wonderful weekend getaway for those who are living near DC or Virginia. It is around 2 hours (or more) drive from washington DC. This is a picture of the "Dream Lake", a spring of water which has a mirror-like appearance. Stalactites are reflected in the water making them appear to be stalagmites. This gives an illusion that the lake is deeper. The lake is connected to a spring that continues deeper into the caverns. All in all, it was my first time exploring caverns. It was a fun filled day, learning the stories of the cavern. Tips: 1) It is very crowded on weekends and holidays. If you want to enjoy peaceful, slow paced, less crowded tour of the caverns, go on weekdays. 2) If you visit the caverns, look for these things- Saracen's tent - scarves and shawls of translucent calcite, falling in graceful folds, fringed with a thousand patterns, and so thin that a candle light can reveal the structure within! The fried eggs formation - yes, it looks like fried eggs ;) The Great Stalacpipe Organ - An actual organ which plays music- sounds of Stalactites! DO NOT miss this one! #Nature

Un hotel con atención muy personalizada. El desayuno es increíble, a la carta y gourmet. Las habitaciones amplias y sí hacen limpieza diaria, lo cual uno agradece. El personal educado y servicial. Dennis en el bar muy atento, al igual que el manager Juan Pablo, quien nos revolvió rápido una solicitud. Las atracciones todas a minutos caminando y sino está a una cuadra la estación de Metro McPherson. Desde el aeropuerto se agarra la linea azul y cuesta menos de $3 para llegar al hotel.

The beautiful tiger at the Luray Rescue Zoo. This zoo holds animals that are unable to be cared for any more or should never have become House pets to begin with. The man that owns the place was born and raised in an animal loving family and his respect and love for the animals show through his interactions and knowledge. You can schedule a behind the scenes tour of the zoo if you call ahead. During this tour I was able to pet a porcupine, feeds goats, feed bananas to a lemur, and feed the tiger pictured. An amazing zoo with an amazing story #lurayzoo #rescuezoo
