You were emailed weeks in advance that we were closed due to emergency repairs. You arrived nonetheless to what was effectively a building site as we undertook major structural repairs. Work reconstruction work is almost completed and we will be reopening soon. This puts your review into factual context.

My favorite spot during our trip to Jamaica
My boyfriend and I stayed at this bed and breakfast three separate times during our recent trip to Jamaica. We went all over the island but when we were in Montego Bay, we stayed at ' A Piece of Paradise'. The manager Carrington was so helpful and friendly. Anything you need help with, he was there all the time to provide the guest with whatever they needed. We became good friends. We will always recommend this place. It's clean, the backyard with the pool and the views of the beach. The hotel sits on a hill, so you see a beautiful view of the beach and so many palm trees. So many awesome and friendly folks stay there, we were able to make friends with the other guests and hang out during our staying in Montego. This spot is a god send and so is Carrington, the manager. I can't wait to visit again. It was our home base during our stay in Jamaica. We traveled all over, stayed in so many different hotels and resorts but our favorite palace was 'a piece of paradise'.

It is regrettable to hear that you had no hot water. I have just checked with the resident manager who informs me that it appears someone had flicked the switch to the off position. Had this been brought to the managers attention it would have been rectified immediately with a flick of a switch. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Exactly what I needed
The owner Gabriel was an AMAZING host. He picked up my friends and I even when I was no longer staying at his facility. I really enjoyed relaxing, drinking, and eating delicious food by the pool. Couldn’t have made it happen without him.

bad experience
I didn't stay at the property. I checked in and wanted to know more about the area. The closest shopping area or restaurant was about two miles away. I didn't feel comfortable walking. The bathroom was on the other side of the building. which I would have to share with another tenant. I told the young man I would like to leave immediately. I had to pay the owner of the property for a ride to the down town area even though I paid for 4 days and asked for no refund. I went down town and found a nice place where I stayed for 7 days. There was no pool but the place I gave it a 4.5 star for cleanliness and comfort. The owner of the first place didn't want to talk with me he told his helper to inform me that he was tired. The picture on the site did not matched with what I saw when I went to the actual property. He also have dogs that roams the property and if they're roaming you cannot enter or leave the property without permission meaning the dogs would have to be tied up or put away else where before you can walk freely

My plane was delayed for one day. They couldn’t refund me or do anything about it. The area is dirty. They didn’t have even soap for shower. And when I asked, the guy said that they don’t provide soap. No hot shower and the service was really really bad. The guy there over charged me for transportation the first day, and would be smoking pat inside and outside the place. Very bad service and I was very disappointed with this location.

The rooms were small, musty. The bathroom door had a big hole in it. The was some one clothes and shoes. The person that was staying in the room left with a bag as i was shown the room. I have a video of the property. I will be filing a complaint to expedia abd requesting a refund. I was unable to stay at the property andbi had to go back to airport and spend the night. I had to walk down a steep hill to get a taxi to go vack to airport. Expedia should be ashamed to have this property on there site.

Dear anonymous, It really is important that you do not get us mixed up with a different property. I have just inspected and reinspected every bathroom door at the property and they are all in perfect condition. Furthermore, you make reference to a person who was staying in the room leaving with a bag ... How can this be possible when we only do private rooms? The only person who would have been staying in the room if you are describing our property would have been you and your friend or partner. It is very clear from your comments that's you are describing a completely different property.

It’s up to you
The weather was great. The owner was great. But my overall experience at the property was not. The smoking left me with a raging sinus infection and the music and noise so early in the morning did not make me very happy. I needed the time to relax and catch up on some sleep and I wasn’t able to do that.

Got scammed by this property. We booked this place and when arrived a worker told us no rooms were available and that the hotel manager was supposedly away on the beach with guests. The reason for not being able to update the unavailability on the website was because they supposedly didn't have Wifi on the property for a few days. We were reassured by the worker that the hotel manager would cancel our booking (he was talking to him on the phone when we were waiting for our cab). We stayed at another place and then found out we were still charged the fee and called Expedia. Expedia didn't help at all with the situation saying that we should have called them right away when there wasn't space available. But we were told by the worker it would be handled and that we would be refunded. Moral of the story. Don't book at this place.

You arrived on a day where we had an unprecedented day long city wide mobile network and Internet shutdown. You refused to show and allow us to take a copy of your I'd in order for us to validate your booking when internet returned. You were rightly charged for the room as the room was available but you decided not to furnish us with the information required to check you in.

This property is off the beaten path- you aren't going to walk down to the hip strip from here, but some real local flavor is close by. The property is very quiet and relaxing and the management goes way above and beyond to meet your needs. Escape your typical hotel environment and give "A Piece of Paradise" a try. You won't be sorry.

This place is horrible! The property owner manager is very hard to reach I am presently locked in and cannot leave the property. Despite the fact that I spoke with him last night and I told him that I had to leave at 7 AM. It is now almost 8 AM and I cannot reach the manager. He asked me for a $50 US deposit for keys and I can’t find him to return his key or get my $50 back. This is absolutely the worst experience I’ve had in all my 20 years of traveling to Jamaica the worst do not rent this place.

I arrived at a Piece of Paradise later in the evening, not really knowing what to expect. I was greeted with a warm welcome from the host Gabriel and his lovey dogs. He was quick to show me my room and make me feel at home. The villa is only a 15 walk from the market along with a great view. Bring your ping pong skills because Gabriel puts up a mighty challenge! I will definitely stay there again when I'm in MO Bay.

Lorsque nous sommes arrivés, j'ai dû me rendre à la clinique. Le concierge de la place a été très accommodant. Nous avons aussi rencontré le propriétaire et il était vraiment sociable. Mon mari et moi, nous n'aimons pas les tout inclus et cet endroit, contrairement aux autres était très bien équipé pour cuisiner. Nous avons aimé notre nuit.

There are so many issues ...First there are 4 large dogs which roam the property freely and bark all night. The place is a hostel....not a resort ...not a hotel.....There are no tvs or bathrooms in bedrooms and no local phone service.The bedroom walls are thin. The beach is not within reasonable walking distance and the water is rough on that side of th island.Owner is on property and has along list of rules for you as he smokes all day and plays his music all night..Also expect to be moved from room to room. Do not use owner for transportation he will over charge you with smile. I paid a taxi( red plates) 500 jmd to go further into town after owner charged 5000 jmd for a 10 min ride..

Demetrius still fails to grasp the concept of simple mathematics. I repeat here for that last time: the conversion rate is 100:1 so if you paid 500 Jamaican Dollars then that equates to $5.00 USD. This simple confusion at the outset of Demetrius airport pick up has fueled his baseless tirades and false accusations which have no basis in reality. Furthermore, a free upgrade to a superior room at check-in does not amount to being moved from room to room. One only has to read our other reviews to decipher Demetriu's agenda. A simple understanding of arithmetic's at the outset would have averted this baseless tirade.

The view, landscaping and quietness when the dogs weren't barking, was good, didn't like the distance from the bedroom to get to the bathroom, and the sharing of living room, kitchen and bathroom with the other guest, also only 1 tv and it was in the livingroom. There are guard dogs on the property, which limits you from moving freely on the property.

Great view, great location that is close to the airport, the convention center and to local shops. I plan on staying here every time I go down to Mobay

We had to attend at Funeral in Jamaica at very short notice. We knew the area we wanted to be in and book A Piece of Paradise for a 7 night stay. We could not be more pleased to the level of service we received from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. If you want a pleasant relaxed spot to stay at in Montego Bay, you cannot go wrong with A Piece of Paradise. The Hotel manager is a star.

Experience Paradise
While in Mobay my experience at "a Piece of Paradise," was exquisite. The lush scenery in the Ironshore district along with the elegant layout of the property was fascinating. I could not have ask for better hospitality as my hotel host was more than efficient. If you're looking for a beautiful time and relaxing getaway a Piece of Paradise is your go to sanctuary.

Mobay's Beautiful Iron Horse Villa
Gabriel and Donna showed me exceptional hospitality and service from the moment I arrived at the airport. This Villa not only includes extravagant views, a beautiful pool that's hillside, and cozy hammocks for tranquility, but also very relaxing vibes. The Iron Horse neighborhood is really awe inspiring and it could be your first or one hundredth time to Mobay the scenery is sure to take your breath away. I highly recommend that you stay at A Piece of Paradise when in Mobay.

The staff was outstanding. The sleeping Arrangements the bed was uncomfortable. And after coming in from a long trip they did not provide water simple thing as a drinking water. I text the owner of the property and he told me the pipe water was just fine. The television was locked and no one on the staff knew how to operate it. The AC in the common area was not operational or if it was the remote control did not work.

IRRATE HOME OWNER!
I do not recommend anyone from the U.S. visit this place. This is a private home and not a hotel. The owner became upset with me about my 2 day stay when I didnt leave at 11a.m. My flight home was at home, I paid for transportation to pick me up at 1pm. He became irrate because I couldnt leave at 11am. He then said he was going to call the police on me and have me evicted. He was argumentative with me and also arguing with other guests that were staying there. He never came to the home we only talked to him over the phone. This was a horrible experience and I don't think expedia should have this home as a recommendation on this site. This home was not properly cleaned. It was obvious that it was not cleaned from the previous guests staying there.

Readers will read your comments in light of our other honest reviews and draw their own conclusions. What you fail to realise is that when you blatantly lie, then your review says more about the kind of person you are than it says about me. Readers only need to read your rant and compare your review to other positive guest reviews and they will draw their own conclusion. Suffice to say that you only return the items you to stole from the villa when I threatened to call the police.

Our host Gabriel made this an outstanding experience. The guest house was not near the beach or the tourist area, a plus in our view, but Gabriel was almost always available to take us where we wanted to go. On top of that, he chauffeured us to the local market in Montego Bay and advised us what we should buy for the authentic Jamaican grill that he hired a chef, Wayne, to cook. On top of that, there were 2 movie nights, sitting outside in the warm air, watching a movie projected on the side of the white house, and Gabriel being the perfect host bringing out drinks and snacks. What we liked most was the fact that Gabriel seemed to be enjoying himself just as much as we were. It's always nice to see someone enjoying what they do.

An Amazing Experience!
This below is just what we needed for a family of six. Gabriel the owner was an amazing host throughout our stay - he made sure the rooms and pool were kept clean, he arranged for a chef to cook us some authentic Jamaican meals, and secured us tickets to the beach. He always had great music going on the pool deck, and he set up a beautiful lights display, and outdoor movie by the pool for the kids - they loved it! It was an excellent experience all around, and we would definitely love to stay again when next we visit Jamaica. We had the time of our lives!

As the owner was out of the country, I want to say a huge thanks to Tracy. She amazing during my stay and as I travelled on my own, she was so helpful. There were a few issues while I was there but Tracy sorted them straight away and if she couldn't, the owner Gabriel was in contact with me. A little piece of Paradise
Upon my check-in on the 11th of May to this villia every thing seemed normal, upon settling in. the villia overseer, did not know how to operate anything in my room ceiling fan, Airconditoning or hot water to shower. The common area living room,dining room and kichten area is nonairconditioned so you have to leave doors opened to circulate airflow with ceiling fans on. That lets mosquitos in to eat you up, we cooked our own meals acouple of times, would have been more but it was like a oven in common area. The TV was supposed to have cable, but channels were few and there was no TV in any bedrooms as i was told. The pool, no one cleaned or filled pool as water evaporated the 7 nights and 8 days i stayed there,the 4th day of my stay. The villia overseer quite. So bottom line is, if i was at the villia, we stayed in the Airconditoning room.

Thank you for your review. We have undertaken a a staff restructuring and issued staff training. The whole house is mosquito netted and bedrooms are air conditioned with ample fans situated in the common areas.

I think it is basic and the service was okay. It should stipulate self-service and the things that are on offer , like cleaning and cooking facilities. Found the host a little shy but overall was friendly and willing to help. Very pleasant lady.

Took a look and decided to go elsewhere
This is more like a hostel than a hotel, which in fairness, they do let be known. Very far away from anything at all, shared bathroom and TV/common area.

You can get a cab right outside the gate or pay to have our comforatble AC vehicle take you anywhere you desire.... We are situated in a residential neighbourhood where you can walk to shops, restaurants, Burger king etc, if you so desire. We are a Villa /Guest house as advertised on line. But I do note that some amenities are listed under hotel. The bedroom categories are correctly advertised, so you can choose to have a sea view rooms with ensuite bathrooms or bedrooms with shared bathrooms as clearly stated in our listing...the choice is yours.

See the real Jamaica
Gabriel and Nathalia were very helpful. Upon arrival, was surprised to see mandatory $200 cash deposit. I saw credit card deposit on my confirmation but the fine print details showed cash. In all my travels I never had to give a cash deposit so I was shocked. Gabriel worked with me which was much appreciated since we came in so late. He also arranged transportation for us easily and we had a fabulous Jamaican breakfast the next morning. We really wanted to see the real Jamaica and this villa helped us do that. Only disappointment was having to share a bathroom which we ended up not having to do that week anyway. Hotels.com didn't show the bathroom as being shared. I would not have picked this villa if I knew it was more like a hostel. The other guests were nice. A great spot for budget travelers.

Thank you for your feedback and thank you for clarifying that the Villa is not a hotel. It is guest house with various categories of rooms some with en suite private bathrooms at the upper end of the scale and the cheaper rooms like the one you booked are advertised correctly as having a shared bathroom with a jacuzzi mini tub between the only 2 twin bedrooms in that section of the villa. The requirement to leave a $200 cash deposit is clearly stated on the website. We are delighted to hear that your stay at A Piece of Paradise Montego Bay helped you experience the real Jamaica. It is NOT a hotel.
Pros: swimming pool is good and has the sea view . Kitchen is okay, however had to ask for more pots and pans. Outside area was reasonably tidy. Staff was very accomodating and Gabriel was helpful. AC in our room worked well. Free wifi. Place for youngsters seeking Jamaican experience. Cons: Out of five bedrooms, two rooms share a bathroom, ( and this with total strangers in each bedroom). There is no facility in the two rooms to hang your wet towels, Which you couldn't, leave in shared bathroom. Lighting is very dim, forget about reading in bed. Common room has tv, pool table, tennis table and dinning table which is also used for check in and office purposes. Try watching TV when someone else is playing table tennis.No telephone or tv in rooms. Nearest beach , over 15 minutes away in a taxi and could cost over US20 dollars for a trip. Shops for grocery 20 minutes away walking. Once again taking taxi would be expensive. Not a place for elderly.

We were very desappointed went we saw our room and the facility of the kitchen. There was a lot of noise during the night, hard to have a perfect night sleep. Dogs barking and people laughing and talking at all hours of night. We manage to have a good week, the pool area is very nice so is the pool and an amazing view.

The villa has to offer shared amenities and this is clear from our listings. The dinning table is not used as an office There is however a corner with guest stationary, travel leaflets and a couple of other note pads including our guests comments and compliments booklet. We encourage guests to address any issues they may face immediately to the hotel staff who respond immediately matters brought to their attention. Staff always ensure that we remind guests who chose to socialize at night on the pool deck to keep noise down to a minimum and to respect other guests right to a peaceful sleep, we also encourage guests to respect each other. Not for older couples looking to be pampered
If you look at the 5 or 4.5 star rating that is shown for this Guest House, thinking you are in for a hotel rating type experience, you, like we, will be very disappointed. This is a guest house. You are there as a guest in someone's home, sharing the common areas - small kitchen, single fridge, TV, pool table, ping-pong table area with the other guests at the house, as well as those who book into the boarding (hostel) also located on the property. And in the case of the two rooms with two twin beds (which we had), you also share a bathroom. From two of the areas of information provided on the Expedia site, I have added corrections in parenthesis - "Property Features Along with an outdoor pool, this smoke-free villa (not a lot inside, but 'smoke' often dominated the air) has a bar/lounge (?? unless this refers to the common eating/TV area) and laundry facilities (single washing machine, for a fee). Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided. Additionally, a garden, barbecue grills, and a picnic area are onsite." "Room Amenities All 6 individually decorated villas feature free WiFi and sofa beds (no sofa beds in the 2 rooms with twin beds). Guests will find kitchens (1 shared kitchen) with refrigerators (1 shared refrigerator), stovetops (1), and microwaves (1)." I am not intending to be unkind, but feel that it is only fair that people have a more correct idea of what to expect.

This hotel has got so much potential, but needs some TLC, also needs an information booklet or something in the room to what they offer, instead of having to ask.

Definitely a Piece of Paradise!!
I made the perfect choice. It was close enough within walking distance to the malls but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful and not affected by the distracting noises of the commercial center. Perched on the hill, it provided the elevated view overlooking the coast which in itself was therapy. There was a constant supply of fruits from low hanging trees in the yard complimented by the picturesque backdrop of the well kept grounds (big up to Junior). Well kept clean rooms and freshly laundered linens made sleeping very comfortable (big up to Tracy-Ann). And the flow of breeze from the ceiling mounted low hanging fans and through the open windows made the use of the available AC seems pointless (at least to me). This was just like a scene from 'How Stella got her grove back' with Angela Basset and Taye Diggs.
Owner/Host Gabriel O was like a brother from another mother.
It was just as the name says!
You will never get this at the big name/chain hotels.
A host who caters to EVERY GUEST's individual needs. I have never met a big hotel Manager even when I lodged a complaint.
