Great Short Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Four old women-longtime friends wanted a getaway. We enjoyed our time very much. We used the balcony a lot. Spent time catching up and laughing. The unit was clean and appropriate for our needs. It was a nice time.

Unfortunately, I find the entire Beach House condos to be lacking in their upkeep. It seems each year they are getting worse and worse. I will not be staying at the Beach House next year.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was fantastic. The space was also good. Unfortunately, there was a fairly strong odor that came from under the fridge and a musty smell that kind of permeated the rest of the place. It wasn't awful, but it was a bit off putting. It would be great if there were better blankets for the pull out couch and beds. The ones provided were old, scratchy and didn't look clean.

Underwhelming Unit for the Money

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Garden City Rental was flawless and extremely helpful in getting us into our unit. Spectacular, really. However, for the high cost to stay in Beach House 105 the value was not there at all. That's on the owners. As a former owner of a Beach House unit, the HOA has locked doors making it difficult to load/unload your vehicle and rendering a parking lot relatively useless.The kitchen in the unit is packed with a bunch of junk, quite frankly. So much so that there is nowhere to put your groceries and dry goods. The washer did not work properly and loads needed to be soaked, slowing down how we did laundry.We have stayed in many different beach house units and our group rented 6 different ones this year. Unit 105 was not one we would choose again. Unit 107 was beautiful for hundreds of dollars less.If you are going to charge the most you better be prepared to meet expectations. This unit did not and the paranoid HOA closing a key door for load/unloading rendered the prime location kind of useless. Especially considering there are no elevators, making load/unload more difficult to weekly rentals is not smart.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great condo with an amazing view while being on the main level. Right outside your door is the pool, decking, and beach access only steps away. Only downside to that is a lot of outside noise. Had some not considerate other guests that were very loud at inappropriate hours outside our condo but I guess that’s the price of convenience. I wish there was something mentioning the no tent rule for the beach as this is the first beach I’ve encountered this issue, now I know to look up beach rules before going to a specific beach. Furniture was super nice (almost all had plugs and usb ports in the top of them for easy access) and beds were comfy. The cleaning people missed some stuff but overall it was good condition with some minor cleaning ourselves. With a few hiccups, our little last minute getaway was a success and enjoyable!

HOA NIGHTMARE!!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: One couple- who owned one condo- introduced themselves to me as representatives of the Beach House HOA. During our stay we had 8 units occupied with our friends and family! We have always rented our beach furniture. Please keep in mind that our “camp” was set up on the beach by 7:00 am and did not get taken down until well after 6:00 on nice days. I was told that our beach furniture had to be taken in and stored on our deck- in addition the HOA REPRESENTATIVE said it could not be stored in the hallways! Later- this same HOA REP was seen by my family removing a no parking cone from a parking spot under what I assumed was her unit! We were told that we would be fined for an infraction that we did not know of until the 60 people in my party had arrived! While she is permitted to reserve her own parking spot in a situation of “first come first serve”, my family and I invested well over $25,000.00 for seven days to only be hounded by the HOA couple who acted like they were above the rules! Disappointed in the week! We will stay elsewhere! I hope someone from the HOA reads this and sits the couple down for a talk! They need it!

However, 4 items need updating:1) New Queen Mattress/box spring- feeling old and sagging.2) New couch with a vinyl material that does not collect dirt.3) Old recliner chair should be replaced,also with a material like a smooth vinyl that will not absorb dirt and sand.4)Fix flooring where it has lifted off subfloor.If those 4 items were updated- 5 stars.

Garden City Realty makes it easy to reserve a place and is quick to respond to any concerns once you arrive. The condo could use some updating. We stay a month and we do a lot of cooking so more pots and pans in the kitchen is needed. I liked having a key code instead of having to keep up with keys. This condo was oceanfront so we enjoyed the beautiful ocean view and we were only a few steps away from the pool, deck and the beach

Girl's Getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our third time at this complex, 1st time in oceanfront unit. Enjoyed each morning watching the sun rise from the balcony.Location is great. Not the best rental we've had in this complex. There were some soft spots in the flooring, and what looked to be mold or mildew covering the vent in the guest bedroom. The biggest negative though was we couldn't sit on the balcony at night because of the "Palmetto Bugs" Called GCR and they said they would contact someone from the HOA. Pest control came out 3 days later but bugs were still out there that night. GCR was very easy to work with. Would recommend this property, but not unit #105.

Setting- Prefect! BUT... needs refresh.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The setting and view is amazing. You can't get closer to the beach or pool. The unit is great sized for 2, or 2 plus 2 children. Everything worked, BUT, the unit is feeling old and very tired. For a several thousand $ and not much time/effort it could be a "wow".Here's what needs to be done:Remove all old wallpaper in Kitchens, Baths & paint.Paint the ceilings.Scrap and paint baseboards.Replace all old, sticky faucets.Paint kitchen cabinets.Replace noisy bath fans.Light fixtures all need updating.Replace the cheap dishwasher. Buy a new queen mattress/box spring.Replace dirty/ancient recliner and couch with leather/vinyl covered ones that will not absorb dirt/sweat/sand.New kitchen counter top.New patio chairs and a table which should be square.Fix 2 loose clapboards on patio.Do these and this place would get 5 stars.Also the entire BeachHouse needs a fresh coat of paint and the pool/patio decking needs to be replaced with composite ( they have replaced a small portion).

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location was perfect. Oceanfront first floor. We could watch our bigger kids in the pool from our deck. Lovely. Condo was well equipped, but decor was dated-straight out of the 90’s. Although, a broom would have been nice. Lol. The bedding needs updated. Stiff quilts, flat pillows - some lightweight blankets would have been welcome. Some of the pillows in the closet smelled like body odor in the worst way. However, we had a good time, played hard, ate well. What more could you ask for?

I would definitely contact you again.The location, view, pool area, access to the beach, space in the condo, shower pressure, and the cleanliness of the appliances were all great. However, besides the condo needing extreme updating, I do have some major concerns. The outlets in the twin bedrooms will not keep the cords in. Not sure if that could be a fire hazzard. The curtains were not easy to open and not clean. Some blinds couldn't be opened because the stick things were missing. Faucets in the kitchen and main bathroom were difficult to use. Bedspreads especially in the twin rooms looked dirty. I would probably not use that particular condo again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The kitchen, bathrooms and appliances were clean. The linens we rented were clean. However, the overall condition of the condo was below expectations. We knew the condo was dated by the pictures, but they were not accurate to the true condition. Mattresses are very worn. You could feel the wires poking. Lots of dust behind headboard and under bed. Lighting is poor as mostly lamps on tables. Laminate flooring uneven and cracked. Hot water did not last through two showers. Maintenance did react fast, but hot water still ran out. Closet doors were broken. Very old electrical outlets; didn't feel very safe. Siding on the outside deck was falling off. Part of the deck was caution taped off while there and the outside showers were not working. Pool was closed for multiple days. We have stayed in Myrtle Beach for over 15 years as a family and this was the worst experience we have had. It was a big let down.

We could see the sea and sky through dune rush grasses and hear the surf twenty four hours a day. The apartment had comfortable furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen for cooking in. Rental management was responsive to maintenance needs.

Beach House Unit #105

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have used Garden City Realty for several years & have no complaints about their service. The unit I usually stay in was not available, so I was put in #105. Garden City should inspect this unit as I feel it is subpar for their service. Unit is Extremely outdated. Original wallpaper style is nauseating & peeling in several spots. Unit had a mold smell on check in. Couple of outlets didn't have power. Trim along floor was broken & missing in spots. Furniture was old & TV stand in main room couldn't fit TV. Bedroom had a mirror about 8" across mounted behind vanity, useless. Medicine cabinet missing handle, useless. Heating vents rusted, dirty, falling off wall. Outside deck extremely dirty & wood was rotted in spots. Front door outside was beat up & dirty. Under beds have never been vacuumed or swept in a long time. Wood floor peeling up in 2 spots, safety issue. Place has had no updating since it was built! Reflects badly on GSR.

A few little things

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property description was accurate. Our stay was very nice and we will do it again. The bedroom doors would not close. The hallway bathroom outlet gets VERY hot, even with a small makeup mirror light. The second bedroom is dark. It needs a different lamp or overhead lighting with a much brighter bulb. It was like being in a cave. The patio is situated perfectly so that it blocks the wind/rain and has some shade and sun. Beautiful sunrises. We had a great time.
