The property is in a beautiful setting: it has a lovely garden, it is just steps away from the beach on a quiet street, and the cottage itself has gorgeous Maori carvings on its front. The owners are incredibly kind and gracious, as well. They invited us to their nearby home for delicious drinks and food shortly after our arrival. They are deeply committed to sharing Maori cultural traditions with their guests. A truly memorable stay!

Obwohl wir das Apartment gebucht hatten mussten wir in einem Kinderzimmer übernachten. Die sanitären Anlagen mussten wir uns mit den Gastgebern teilen. Das einzig schöne der Strand war in ca. 150m Entfernung.

Different experience

This was an excellent experience. Different from most places you stay. The staff were most friendly and went out of their way to make this a memorable place to stay. The room/unit had everything you need and breakfast was provided. The homemade jams were wonderful especially the marmalade. It was a no rush, relaxing stay and we would certainly recommend it to people looking for something a little different.

ACute Little Cottage

A wonderful place to stay. We were warmly greeted by our hosts who invited us up to their home for drinks and nibbles and we left an hour later! Many stories changed hands. The next day we put our long line out on the beach and caught a couple of snapper which Miria and Taroi invited us to cook on their BBQ. We of course invited them to share the fish with us and so with salad and potatoes cooked by them ,we once again enjoyed another couple of hours before enjoying a dip in their hot pool. A truly memorable stay in a lovely cottage with the tuis in the trees outside our door. Magic!

Nice B&B close to the beach.

We had a lovely stay for only one night and we were made very welcome by the lovely hosts,with drink and snacks on the terrace.We stayed in the room,in the house as the cottage were occupied.Had a lovely evening with the host-couple and almost like beeing with old friends.Breakfast was very good and before we drove off we filled up our waterbottles from their natural spring waterwell they had in their garden. Would love to go back.

Delightful Bed & Breakfast - Lovely Hosts

This property is in a great location, only one block from the beach. It is beautifully decorated and charming. The quality and attention to detail is superb - the homemade jams in the refrigerator were especially noted. The bed was very comfortable; it was great falling asleep to the sound of the surf breaking on the beach. Miria and Taroi are fabulous hosts; they treat you as one of their family and really make you feel welcome and comfortable. Our stay here was the highlight of our trip around East Cape; we will definitely stay there again next time we visit Ohope. Highly recommended, especially for couples looking for a romantic getaway.

Fabulous hosts, and a great location

We spent two nights at Moanarua Beach cottage. The location is gorgeous and the cottage is perfect, with everything you need to hunker down or use as a base to explore the Eastern Bay. What really makes it though is Miria and Taroa, we had a fabulous evening with them and another visitor, plenty of laughs all round. Don't forget to try Miria's homemade jams... just delicious! Would absolutely recommend.

Cute, comfortable cottage

Wonderful, friendly and welcoming hosts. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of it. A very nice little unit with all the comforts and privately located. There were books and a photo album which were very interesting. A lovely taste of the local Maori culture. Thank you Miria and Taroi.

Super cottage close to the beach.

A great place to stay close to the beach with everything you need and lovely homemade preserves made by the very hospitible hosts. Would definitely stay again.

Strandnähe und sehr familiär

Die Unterkunft liegt sehr nah zum Strand, Restaurants und Supermärkte sind jedoch nicht in der Nähe. Fürs Abendessen sind wir nach Whakatane rübergefahren, dort ist deutlich mehr los als in Ohope. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und interessiert. Bei der von uns gewählten Unterkunft im Haus schläft man offenbar im kleinen Zimmer der ausgezogenen Tochter. Man hat eine kleine eigene Toilette gegenüber, teilt sich aber die Dusche mit den Gastgebern. Wenn man Wert auf Privatsphäre legt, ist diese Unterkunft daher nicht die richtige Wahl. Das Frühstück war auch eher überschaubar. Aus unserer Sicht war die Unterkunft für die gebotene Leistung (kleines Zimmer, kein eigenes Bad am Zimmer, mittelmäßiges Frühstück) leicht überteuert.

Our first night in NZ.

The hosts were very hospitable. We arrived in NZ a day later than planned and later in the day than we would have liked, so we didn't arrive at the cottage until 10 p.m. They waited for us and then brought us supper because we hadn't eaten. This cottage is in the basement of their home and does not have any ocean view, but it is private, spacious and has a great bathroom! They were a very nice couple and we wish we had had more time to chat with them.

Cosy room

Very familiar place to stay, it is the home of a very nice couple, they treated us very well. Very close to the beach! Only thing is that the internet does not work in the room downstairs (honey moon suite).

Oustanding hospitality in a beautiful location

This well-equipped and comfortable cottage is ideally located just across the road from the beach. Expect a warm welcome and wonderful hospitality from hosts Miria and Taroi. Highly recommended.
