Before booking the Occidental hotel in Nuevo Vallarta we called around other hotels to see if they would charge for a toddler. Occidental in particular stated that they probably wouldn’t, because my daughter at the time of arrival would barely have turned 2 years old (she turned two, 5 days prior to arrival.) Over the phone, the front desk lady stated that we could just talk to the manager at time of arrival, and that they would probably waive the fee. As soon as we got to t hotel, we asked for the manager because front desk wanted to charge us, and we waited over an hour for the manager to come talk to us. His name is Emanuel Magallon. Not sure how in the world he is a manager. He’s rude, condescending, and made sure I paid almost $500 for a 2y/o that barely eats anything. There is no way a 2 y/o eats $500 worth of food in one week. We tried explaining to Emanuel that over the phone we got told that he could waive the fee, and he said he didn’t care what we got told over the phone. I had the money to pay for it, but it’s the principal. Be ready to be surprised if you don’t have that kind of money. Classless and all around very unprofessional ways of treating guests is what we got from Emanuel and the front desk lady (who also seemed like she hated her job)
The food is a different story. Very average to be honest. What’s more upsetting is that the kids menu was always cereal, nuggets or fried tacos. My daughter cannot eat fried tacos! All parents know those are choking hazard.
