“Really lovely stay. The room was spotless and exactly as we expected. Twin room with en suite shower and bath, situated above a tea room in Bonsall (approx. 5 minute drive from Matlock Bath). Decor was fresh and clean, bed warm and comfy and clothes storage more than adequate. Hospitality tray with hot drinks and biscuits and a selection of toiletries. The breakfast was outstanding. Amazing find and would highly recommend and definitely return.”

“I loved the place, I was welcomed with a welcome package with tea and supplies. It was a 245 year old cottage so it has a few “features” which I loved the most about the place. I loved the three story staircase which was very good cardio. I’d love to stay again wonderful ”

“There is a large car park but it can get busy at peak times. Register your car at the bar. Our fourth visit in the last year. We like it. Staff, food, atmosphere and location. There are a few maintenance issues that could be addressed, e.g. dripping taps, shower door off runners and touch up of decor in places. We expect to return.”

Our family got together because of bereavement in the immediate area and we all stayed at there The Lion Hotel. It enabled us to get together and concentrate on our family. “I stayed there because I had to visit some customers really close. It seems like this place it's more for weddinds or other celebrations than for staying in. The service was not helpful at all. Breakfast it's included but there was a team of people just chatting and nobody came to explain what could I order. I had to go and ask and they were not kind at all. I won't definitely come back.”

“The staff at The Bear Inn are terrific: it’s a family-run business and nothing was too much trouble. You soon will get to know everyone’s name a they will remember yours; it’s the little things that set a small country Inn apart from the bigger and soulless enterprises. Check-in was easy and, although we originally planned to stay for a couple of days, we were made so welcome, decided to stay for two more. Our day always started with an excellent and leisurely breakfast which really set us up...

“Was a lovely place to stay, not too far from anything we wanted to do which was great. The host had kindly left milk, butter and eggs for us in the kitchen which we appreciated! The house was tidy and clean. My only comment would be that there were lots of cobwebs in the rooms but otherwise we had a lovely stay ”

“Do not stay! Room dirty, broken furniture, full of cobwebs and mould. No housekeeping during stay to replenish cups, tea, milk etc. Contacted the property to request a reimbursement before posting a negative comment. But no response from owners. ”
