After we were already in Guatemala, and were trying to figure out where we were headed next, we noticed that the address said Santa Cruz. However, after some trouble, we realized that the house was in Tzunana. Right off the bat, this felt mis-leading. “The house is dirty, smells humid, dust everywhere, no hot water after 1 minute of shower, no a/c, everything is old and outdated, sheets and towels were stained, it’s in the middle of nowhere in the jungle. We found a scorpion in the bedroom. The only good thing is who manages de property, that service is amazing and will help you get everything organized and scheduled, but the actual property is not at all how it seems in the photos. “Cute room with fantastic daily cleaning by lovely lady. Great view, just as advertised. Quick access to lakefront restaurants or tuktuk ride up to Santa Cruz. Like everything around Lake Atitlan, the climb is up or down…not a problem for us, but could be with heavy suitcases.”

“Poor communication to enter the property, had to wait outside for 10 minutes in the night. The owner eventually came to open the door, but calls and text were not answered. The owner was very nice and once inside was responsive to texts. The room was very pretty as well. ”

“I spent one week at Amankaya and had a great time! Fernando is an amazing host that always goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. The location is a bit secluded from everything but theres a boat that can pass by the lakehouse 3x a day which makes accessing all of the other villages very easy. There is complimentary water and kayaks available. The kitchen is very big and very well stocked. Theres also a lovely dog and 2 cats to keep you company. I'd recommend Amankaya to...
