“Staircase to rooms leaves a lot to be desired. Very old and dirty. The room was very small, claustrophobic! Terrible smell from the carpet (old dog smell) kept me awake at night despite the window wide open. Breakfast was poor. Low quality products not well cooked. The setting is beautiful but sadly the standard of upkeep outside and in does not do the area justice. On a positive note the staff were very nice and helpful and restaurant dinner was lovely.”

“We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable.
