We love HB and visit every year, this is the first year we have experienced multiple home issues that impacted our trip to the point that I would write something brief for future guests. We were charged additional fees having booked through VRBO and then being rerouted to sign additional contracts with ProActive Rental Company. The house asked to inventory all items that were damaged or broken within 24 hours or you would be charged - we spent the first few hours taking pictures and inventory of all the broken and damaged items. You have to pay for the bagged linens that are left on the kitchen counter and these were stained. The house must have been closed up for a while and black mold had covered the ceiling and wicker furniture, the smell was terrible. Our best efforts to clean did not help the smell. The rental company changed the vent filters and brought DampRid bags for the closets though this did not help. Some of the family chose not to stay. HB is always wonderful, however, the home is the gathering place for the week and this rental was disappointing.
