“The novelty of staying in a 400 year old property, in an incredible location, right in the middle of Rye, made this the perfect place for a long weekend. Everything needed was right out the front door - museums, castle, pubs, and cafes. The actual house was well laid out with decent furnishings and clean towels, and linens. However, it was dirty in areas, like the crockery all had to be washed before use, blinds were dirty and dusty, and there was a lot of dust, dirt and dog hair around. Not...

“Nice location with a pretty garden . We were visiting during the recent long heatwave , we asked if we could have a fan as it was very hot in the loft area where you sleep , told clearly No !! I would suggest there should a fan in the property to make it more pleasant. We visited other places that had fans which made it a much more comfortable”

“We stayed at Mermaid Cottage for a week at the beginning of July. We arrived by train, and the cottage was within easy walking distance from the station. There were also buses departing nearby to various beaches, which was very convenient for us.The house had everything we needed, including comfortable beds, fans, and a well-equipped kitchen. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the bed linen and towels were of excellent quality.Communication with Clare was outstanding. She helped us with many different...

“Very lovely place to stay . Perfect for a long weekend. Lots to see and the Ostrich pub was warm and welcoming. Lovely countryside with s lovely view from the property.”

“Sofa bed difficult to operate and was uncomfortable. House keeping : rang number to clarify WiFi connection as instructed by host but no response. Out of date public transport information. Clean cottage and well equipped kitchen.”

“Lovely property, very clean, lovely bed linen and towels. Owners very helpful with check in and making sure everything was okay with us. Everything we needed at the property including separate drinks fridge. Nice bath and powerful shower. We try to holiday on the beach at Pevensey Bay every year. Although we were lucky enough to have great weather, having direct access to the beach means we can still enjoy the views whatever the weather. There are always beautiful sunrises and sunsets there....

“The property was clean and the garden was an added bonus with children. I would certainly recommend this property to others. It would suggest having dish towels for the kitchen.”

“If you love a peaceful country retreat then this is for you. Wildlife all around. The owner could not be more helpful. Peacocks at the back door herds of dear and flocks of amazing rheas much better than advertised. You do need a car with good clearance for the track through the forest but it's worth it as it all ads to the amazing adventure. Thank you once again to our host Martin who meets guests at the gate to lead you through the forest.”

“We had a lovely stay at Amelia Cottage while visiting family in Battle. Such a nice and warm welcome from the owner. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. The garden is lovely and well maintained with many flowers. The location is perfect, it is close to the playground and to Battle High Street. The local supermarket Jempsons is only a few minutes walk away and that was also very handy. We will definitely book again!”

“A fantastic place to stay. The location is quiet and it’s less than a mile from the centre of Rye and an easy walk into town. The standard of finish in the property is excellent and had everything we needed for a short stay. I highly recommend this property. It is possible to rent Buttercup to double up the accommodation and they share an entrance lobby.”

“Perfect for solitude as property in complete seclusion.”

“We instantly felt at home in this holiday house – and so did our dogs! Everything was super clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed - and much more. The fully fenced garden was a big plus, so our dogs could run around freely. There were even bowls, towels, and some treats for the dogs (and also for us)– such a thoughtful touch! The hosts were really friendly, helpful, and always easy to reach. For us, it was a perfect stay and we can recommend this place to anyone looking for a...
