“Very nice small authentic ryokan with an outdoor public onsen. It's located 15 min walk from Shibu Onsen town, but close to the entrance to Monkey Park. There's a busstop right in front of the ryokan. The bus goes to the station and monkey park entrance and ski area. Very kind and serviceminded couple, who speak enough English to explain how it works. Good Japanese breakfast and dinner. Only coffee is in the vending machine outside. Only futons in the room. No chairs. No private bath or toilet...

“The onsens are amazing and we did enjoy using them a lot during our stay. Especially the outdoor one provided a fantastic time, the peace and quiet of it makes you feel renewed extremely quickly. The food was interesting - and plenty of it! - and it provided a nice insight into a traditional dining experience. “We stayed in this ryokan for a family trip. The city is unknown to non-Japanese people, but the people at the ryokan were so kind and helpful. Sometimes it was not easy to communicate as their English was not the best, but they tried their best to help. The meals were awesome, and the bath places were great as well. “The hospitality (service and meals) at Shiganoyu Hotel were amazing. While we did not speak Japanese and the staff did not speak English, they used a translation tool for conversation and didn't let that be a barrier. It was so comfortable for our family of 5 - very homey and welcoming. The tea and treat upon check-in was a nice surprise and delicious. The onsen was a relaxing bonus!
