“Absolutely recommend the sunset surf shack for a little getaway in OBX. The hosts Amber and Brett have a lovely home and were great with communication and any recommendations that you may need help with during your stay. Local to the beach and with what they offer in allowing use of the bikes for the path or if you want to take a paddle out in the bay they are very kind to offer that. “10 stars! It was so wonderful to be nestled in this woodland retreat as the forest provided relief from the relentless Heat Wave over 4th of July (250th!) weekend. Also a peaceful escape as it sits fairly far away from the highway and retail areas. The stairs are long, but doable if you aren't carrying much. Colleen is best hostess ever! No, seriously, she IS the best out of ALL my travel stays. Sweet touches and treats everywhere. Definitely coming back here.”

“We didn't end up staying here, we had to get a hotel. This place was gross. Infested with cockroaches and you could see where many of them had been killed on the ceiling and walls, there were splattered bug remains. ”

“We met the host as we arrived and she was very nice and accommodating. The place had everything possible that we needed or wanted. It was private and fairly quiet. Had a nice resident cat that soothed the missing of our cats. Nice, private pool. About a 5 minute drive from the beach and all the local restaurants”

“The location was the best part of this property. It is right by the beach and only a few minute walk will get you to the shore. The cleanliness is the biggest issue with this property. The property was filthy especially the kitchen and bedroom areas. The bed sheets had a horrible musty smell to them. The bed is also very uncomfortable and possibly broken. The utilities all worked fine in the kitchen but nothing was cleaned properly.”

“I could not say enough great things about this property. It was incredibly clean, the coffee each morning was a wonderful touch, and the hot tub was amazing. Being able to cruise around on the bikes was phenomenal, and both the shower and bathtub were exceptional.The hosts were fantastic as well. A bad storm came through during our stay, and we briefly lost power. I messaged them, and they immediately checked in to make sure we were safe and okay.We slept wonderfully, and overall, it was truly a...

“Truly an exceptional stay. The treetop is exactly as described. It looks out over the treetops and you can sit on the porch and enjoy the birds and sunset. The interior is chic and comfortable - and we slept soundly in the queen bed. Lisa, the hostess, was wonderful and inviting. I would highly recommend the Treetop.”
