Kate the manager is exceptional, she had agency staff who were a credit to her but new one had been there 2 hours, a chef walked out and she was cooking as well as running and managing everything including a power cut. The hotel is tired we had a suite and the plugs didn’t work in the bath and shower, the bath was also chipped. “What lovely staff, so friendly. This is the best place i have stayed in yet on my Coast to Coast walk. Breakfast was amazing, apart from the usual full english (which loses its novelty after 5 days!) chose eggs benedict which was perfectly cooked and made a lovely change. Room was spacious and bed comfy. All together a great place to stay.”

“I booked 2 rooms, both of which were excellent, very clean and beautifully furnished, recently fitted bathrooms with excellent facilities. The staff were wonderfully friendly and welcoming, they made us feel very comfortable in the beautiful location. We really enjoyed our pre dinner drinks by the open fire in the guests lounge and learning about the history as we explored the building. Delicious food, we met the chef who checked our exact needs.
