Very disappointed It’s unacceptable to rent out an apartment with a broken bedroom window that couldn’t be closed at all. The room was unusable. Terrible customer care — would not recommend.

A week before our booking, Smartflats reached out to us as they had to move us to another apartment due to a technical issue in the Theatre apartment. They were not upfront about the variance in accommodation - it was only after I asked that they said instead of a 2-bedroom, we would be getting a 1-bedroom (for 4 people). Which, once we arrived we realised was not even a 1-bedroom. It was more of a studio layout with the bedroom and living space (and pull out bed) all in one big room. This was not clear or obvious from their communication and I felt they were not upfront our honest about this prior to our stay. I was also shocked that they didn't automatically offer a discount given that they were moving us to a smaller apartment and it was in a less ideal location - I had to ask for this which I don't think is right. I was unimpressed with how they positioned this "change" to us. The apartment we moved to is called the Brooklyn, which I could not find online at all and I now think that's because it's not actually finished and ready for occupation. The whole building was untidy and looked like a construction site. The apartment itself was okay, but the bathroom was clearly unfinished and felt like a dormitory with an odd door that led outside.

Leuke locatie op een centrale plek. Ruim appartement, wel veel dingen die kapot waren zoals lampjes, de lift, de verwarming (die stond gloeiend heet en kon niet uit).

We zijn overgeplaatst naar een accomodatie die niet vergelijkbaar was met de regio en soort accomodatie. Het stonk er vreselijk naar RIOOL en het was vies. Omdat alles in deze dagen vol was en ik ons gezin een weekendje weg had beloofd, zijn we gebleven, anders had ik dit geannuleerd.

We had a miserable experience. The flat was charming and clean but there was no hot water, the mosquitos were unbearable, and the tram was so loud it sounded like it was in the flat. We tried to get help with the hot water for 4 days and we never got it. We took freezing cold showers the entire time. There are no screens on the windows and we woke up every day with tons of mosquito bite The tram squeks around a corner right outside the window through most ofvthe night. Avoid this property at all costs! I will never stay in a Smartflats property again! s. never

Appartement is ruim maar sterk verouderd. Warm water op badkamer onbetrouwbaar, dan heel heet en dan koud. Locatie perfect en appartement was ook schoon maar niet meer van deze tijd. Belichting niet goed, stop contacten die niet werken, oud meubilair etc

Topverblijf in hartje Antwerpen

Topligging! Met de codes geraak je vlot binnen in de flat. De ruimtes zijn groot en mooi. Er is een huiselijke sfeer, leuke badkamer en uitgeruste keuken. Tijdens ons verblijf werkte de tv niet en ontbrak er een gordijn in de slaapkamer. Voor de rest was alles in orde.

Mold!!! No air flow!! Tripping hazzards!!! Lights dont work!! Bed bugs!!! Blinds old and very dirty!! Mold in both upstairs shower, and downstairs basket!! We stayed only one as I was hearing bugs in my ears!!! We left the next day, the advertisement is mis-leading, very GROSS!!!! STAY AT ANOTHER PLACE!!!! We couldnt contact and lost all our money!!! A sign said to share the shower because the draing system didnt work, so after one shower it floods!! Some of the windows wouldnt open, they only gave us a heater no fan!!! The light in the kitchen only turned on but off, again safety hazzard!!! Could get electrocuted because of how old this place is, the stairs going up are painted BLACK No LIGHTS!! TRIP?? YES!!! AND MANY MORE!!! i cried because of how unsafe I felt, our money GONE!! NEVER AGAIN BECAREFUL EVERYONE!!!

Good location, poor state of repair

The apartment is in a great location, very central, and it was clean. However, you do pay for what you get. It was a good price, so perhaps we should not have been surprised to find that it was in need of maintenance. There was some dodgy-looking electrics, no basic handsoap, no towel rings for hanging a hand towel near a sink, damaged walls etc. Overall, it made it feel cheap, and.... edgy. Worst of all though is their customer service. Nobody answers the provided phone number, and emails are answered in strange ways (like they haven't read your question).

Noisy, run down. Stay away.

Ok, the property has potential but you get what you paid for. The apartment is spacious. Location is relatively good. About 10-min walk to central square and about 15 to train station. That's about where the good stuff stops and the ugly stuff begins. First off I ordered the brown room and I got the pink one. But ok , fine. It is located though on the intersection of noisy streets with a tram line. Forget about sleeping after 6am. You can open windows. We got a lot of moskito bits. Kids were suffering especially. The place is run down. See photos. Beware of uneven flooring!!! There is a step between corridor and rooms floor. EVERY room! We all almost broke our toes tripping over those steps. In US tenants would sue the landlord for this -- it is a serious violation of safety. Some shelved were ripped off and walls have wholes in them. Never will stay there again. Give yourself a favor -- pay a little more and stay in a better place.

In der Wohnung richves die ganze Zeit sehr unangenehm. Eahrscheinlich werden die Syphons zu selten durchgespült. Der einzige Couchtisch lag defekt in einem Schrank. Das Sofa war verdreckt. Das gesamte Treppenhaus war die ganze Zeit schmutzig. Das WLAN funktionierte den gesamten Aufenthalt- trotz diverser Beanstandungen - nicht. Trotz der ganzen Mängel war man nicht bereit, uns einen späteren Checkout zu grstatten.

For those interested in shopping and "action", the location of this flat is excellent. The flat itself is laid out nicely and has a full bathroom up a set of stairs including a bath tub. The apartment has large windows with balconies and an open feel. The apartment is spacious. The kitchen was very good, with my only complaint being there was no way to make a real cup of coffee. A pour-over or press-pot would have helped. We ate breakfast and made dinner every night for two weeks...I appreciated the kitchen and table. The downside to the location is that all the action comes with noise. If you are a light sleeper bring ear-plugs. Also, there is no air conditioning and the apartment lacks fans. This creates a tension between keeping the apartment cool, but also quiet and bug-free especially at night. Finally, parking and driving in this area is very difficult, so be warned that if you need a car for certain activities that are outside of Antwerp, you will find it very cumbersome to keep a car with this flat.
