BEWARE! The ad is deceptive; communication was bad, apartment was sad, and follow-up was insulting.
•The unverified reviews described a different property•An unannounced housing tax was charged•A security deposit to be paid onsite was demanded in advanceHost Hexuvium requested a bank transfer of 500 and email a PDF proof of transfer, but did not provide an email address. VRBO could not provide the email address, but gave me a Paris phone number (which had a full voice mailbox). After several times back and forth between Hexuvium and VRBO, I eventually received the email address by a WhatsApp from a Madagascar number. The apartment can hardly be described as “elegant.” •Check in was from a lockbox on a fence across the street•Kitchen drying rack and dishes were dirty•Walls were stained •Rugs were dirty•Balcony railing was moldy and rusty•Bathroom sink was slow-draining•Wi-Fi account and password were incorrect•Bathroom light bathroom did not work, so we showered in the dark•The only elevator stopped working; neighbors said it was often broken•After storm and construction noises, we received messages that loud parties were not tolerated, and excessive noise levels had been detected!•Hexuvium sent many messages via our VRBO message board -- ads for properties from Belgium, Luxembourg, Morocco, and Arkansas (USA). The follow-up was insulting. Eventually they refunded 391 (out of 500). When I asked for an itemization, they said, “Taxe de séjour !!!!!!!!” Yes, eight exclamation points. Again, the ad didn’t say taxes would be due from our deposit
