There is NOTHING bad that I can say about Ms. Elle, the property, or our stay at Icing! Every thing was clean, in order, and properly stocked. We were left w/ clear check out instructions and everything we needed for our stay was on hand. I really cannot say thank you enough for making this a memorable weekend!

We enjoyed our stay at Icing on the Lake during Thanksgiving! There was lots of space for everyone in our group of 19. The house was well stocked for cooking, as well as, playing games, watching movies in the theater room, and simply spending quality time together. Everything was beautifully decorated and the host was gracious and welcoming. I would highly recommend this property for large family gatherings!

Great weekend and host was awesome. Our crowd was a “little loud” on Friday night and the host handled it perfectly… (again .. we apologize) I have a house at lake gaston but our house wasn’t big enough to host this group. This house has it all!!! Thank you so much!!

The house was lovely, spacious, clean and stocked with everything needed. Communicating with Elle was easy and information was clear. We loved spending time on the dock and got to enjoy the water with the paddle boards and kayaks provided. The fire pit, movie room and hot tub were all other highlights within our group. We would take a large group back here in a heart beat.

Beautiful home on the lake! The house was perfect! Though large and roomy, many specifically said it felt cozy. There was lots to do and I really appreciated the second full kitchen. The owner was very friendly and easy to contact. We chatted a few times prior to our trip. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again in the future!

2025 Lake Gaston Family Vacation

Lovely spacious home with well equipped necessities for a large family vacation. The kitchen offered many items—multiple dish wear/silverware items, cookware, large cabinet spaces for food storage and essentials for making our vacation easy. The furniture, throughout the house, was very comfortable. Plenty of space to sit and enjoy a meal, conversation or nap! Everything was great—both inside and outside!

Lots of love for Icing on the Lake

We had a wonderful week in this lovely, spacious home. There was lots of room for the twelve members of our family, ages 3-86 to spread out and have fun. When not in the lake the kids spent most of their time in the home theater while the adults enjoyed chatting and reading in the many gathering spaces. The house is situated on a cove off the main lake and provided a safe spot to frolic in the water. Some of our group ventured out to the main lake in paddle boards and kayaks. Our fishermen (and lady and kids) caught plenty of fish including a couple of keeper catfish which we enjoyed for dinner. Elle, the owner was quick with responding and solving a couple of problems. We messaged her in the evening about the dock ladder that had come unfastened and arrived early the next morning with a new and improved ladder that she installed. We definitely recommend this home for a great family vacation.

Great House on Lake Gaston

This was a great house for our week at Lake Gaston. The house is on a cove and everyone had fun playing in the lake without having to worry about "traffic." We rented boat and we all enjoyed tubing and skiing. We had one rainy day, but there is so much to do inside, no one was bored. The decor was lovely and there was more than plenty of space for our group to spread out. The kitchen is definitely fully stocked and the additional refrigerators - and second kitchen - made things easier for our big group. If you're looking for a great house on Lake Gaston, look no further than Icing on the Lake.

Something for everyone

The house offered a great balance of convening and quiet spaces for our large group. Early risers didn’t disturb the sleeper-in-ers. Kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed for family meal prep. Best of all was the dock and lake access. Swimming on the Lilly pad was a highlight for young and old and the fishermen were happy to paddle to a quieter space for peace. The property manager went above and beyond with communication and returning a left-behind lovie. One disconnect was re: dogs. The VRBO listing said pet friendly for 2 dogs up to 50 lbs but the rental agreement said no pets. We worked it out but it made for some frantic moments.

Best Place Ever

This property has everything. 18 people stayed comfortably and absolutely enjoyed themselves. In February. Plenty of games, a massive TV room with huge comfy chairs, a pool table, large rooms to gather and smaller nooks to chat, luxurious hot tub and so much more. We didn't even try the gym, fire pit (with more wood than we could burn in a month) or the lake. You could stay here a week and never get board.We had a surprise celebration for my wife's 60th birthday with friends from all over. This was the perfect spot. The host was great and made us feel welcome. Need a sixth star for this place.

Great spot for large group

We take an annual trip to Lake Gaston with 4-5 families every fall. This year was the first time we spotted this house and it was great. We maximized all of the space in the house- which admittedly has a bit of a funky layout to fit in this many rooms—but we had plenty of space to spread out and hang out despite having the max size group for the rental. We were initially worried about being on a small cove, but it ended up being fantastic for the kids to paddle board, kayak and swim (even in October!) and just a short paddle to the main lake. We have had several main lake houses before and this is the best fishing we have had in years- lots of fish right off the dock (mostly large pan fish). There is an arcade game not in the photos that adults and kids enjoyed in addition to pool and foos and the movie room now has a much larger TV than pictured. Hot tub was clean and great. Fire pit is on the non-lake side, which we knew from pictures, but probably resulted us using it less than we normally would since the weather was great and everyone was on the lakeside. Of note, like much of Lake Gaston, the WiFI was a bit spotty which caused some challenges with streaming and network things, but overall wasn’t a huge issue for us. There was a note in the house that the hope to have Fiber in the area soon. Elle was an amazing and responsive host and we had great communication. We would definitely stay here again and found this house to be even nicer than we thought when we booked it!

How’s this? **Beautiful, Spacious Home - Perfect for Large Families!**

We recently stayed at this amazing house with 18 people, including 2 under 2, 3 under 12, 4 teenagers, and 9 adults. There was plenty of space and fun for everyone! The main floor of the house offers a full kitchen, dining room, living room, and plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms. The bottom floor feels like a whole separate home with its own full kitchen, bar, pool table, sitting/playroom nook, couch/TV sitting area, theater room, 2 bathrooms, and 3 bedrooms. You could easily have two separate living spaces within the same house, making it perfect for large groups. The dock and swimming area were a highlight! It’s off the main lake, like a cul-de-sac on water, which made it perfect for hanging out and having a great time. The kids had a blast swimming and jumping off the dock. The provided family float and lily pad were fantastic additions that everyone enjoyed. With 3 refrigerators, there was plenty of space to store food for the week. One tip: buy extra ice! The ice makers couldn’t quite keep up with our vacation drinking, but the margarita/slushie maker was a hit with both adults and kids. There are a lot of steps, so if anyone in your group has trouble with stairs, this might not be the best choice. Also, while towels were provided, we found it helpful to bring extra as there seemed to be only one per person for showers. Major stores like Walmart, grocery stores, and fast food are about 20 minute

Icing on the lake was an awesome place!

The property was great! Probably the nicest house we have ever rented. The house was beautiful, functional and had everything you could need. The towels and linens were so nice, and beds were comfy. I wish we had had more time to enjoy all the property had to offer. Our family stayed the weekend to attend our dads Celebration of life, and everything was great! Elle was so nice to communicate with. We would definitely recommend! If we are that way again we would book, but would have to save up:)

Immaculate home

This place is wonderful. One of the best properties I've stayed in using VRBO. The layout, the openness was spectacular. We rented this house as a surprise for my mom's 74th birthday and she was blown away. The kids didn't want to leave. If you are looking for a place to get away and relax with your family this is a great place with 8 bedrooms in a multi-level home. 5 stars all around.

This place is a gem for a large extended family!

We love all the space that this place provides, both in bedrooms and in living spaces, including 2 full kitchens. Elle, the owner, was so helpful in answering my questions!! All our communication was clear and quick. We had an issue on our end because of a family situation and she helped us in every way possible to solve the problem. Beautiful Home

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful home in Lake Gaston. You really could not ask for a nicer stay. The house is huge. There is so much space for everyone. The house was furnished beautifully and there are so many fun things to do, even in the winter. I can’t say enough nice things about our stay!

Perfect Lake House

Our family celebrated Christmas here and the house was exactly what we were looking for, clean and spacious. There are numerous shared spaces around the house where different groups could gather so it never felt cramped or crowded. Some people were watching a movie in the theater room, some were chatting around a fire place, others were playing card games, and others were watching football - and there were separate spaces to do all of these at the same time! Elle was incredibly responsive and accommodating host; whether I reached out to her in the late evening or early morning, she always responded to questions very promptly. I highly recommend this property.

Amazing family weekend!

Our stay was absolutely perfect! We recently found out we had long lost family members and we got to have the most special reunion at this house. Elle was so responsive and helpful and the house had everything we needed! I would absolutely recommend and we look forward to going back!!
