We couldn’t have asked for a nicer place or better location. Being EPIC Local Pass Holders at Stevens Pass in WA gave us access to ski at Beaver Creek, Vail, Breckenridge, AND Keystone, and that was our plan: Four resorts in four days. The Silverthorne location was nicely situated so we could reach each resort in less than an hour. And we found plenty of nice places to eat in Silverthorne and Frisco in the evenings. Our breakfasts were in the condo each day, and the kitchen worked perfectly for that. The fireplace is beautiful, and plenty warm when used, but we didn’t use it much because the unit feels tight and warm — no drafty leaks from the windows or doors. And the master bedroom suite is large and luxurious. One of us slept out in the living room because even though the captain’s bunk and trundle bed allow for up to five bodies, two was enough for us! The married couple enjoyed the master suite. We only had two small issues: An outside railing that was loose on the stairs, and a battery that was low in one of the thermostats. A text from me got an immediate response from the condo manager. One personal issue was altitude sickness the first night. Going from Seattle (sea level) to Silverthorne (8K) I woke the first night with a splitting headache and some nausea. But using forced breathing (i.e., an old mountaineering trick of pressing on your chest as you hold your breath, and then restricting your throat as you breathe out) worked in 15 minutes. No further problems.
