10/10 for the booking experience & communication throughout the stay. The location was incredible. We had originally booked a hotel, but reconsidered that so we could have more space and comfort. Best decision we’ve ever made. The apartment was well equipped, and beautiful! Very comfortable. The location can’t be beat. Don’t think twice when booking this place! Special thanks to the hosts for the extra touch to make a birthday trip more memorable. We will share this with all of our friends!

This property is in an awesome location on the main street of a pedestrian area (Via Roma). It looks down another walkway (Minerva) that is adjacent to the duomo. At night, we would sit on the balcony and listen to the various musicians play near the duomo mall and drink wine. Heavenly. The kitchen is extremely nice and if you chose to cook and instead of going out, it would be easy to do so. It has two air conditioners and they work fantastically. We would definitely stay here again. Walk down and have a drink at Moon. We specifically stayed here before we flew to Athens to use the washing machine after traveling for 6 days. It did not work when we were there (mid-September) but the good news is there was a laundromat about two blocks northeast that was perhaps more convenient. Have a drink at Irma La Dolce while you wait. Good breakfast as well. If you’re an English only speaker, note that the host does not speak English. It created some minor confusion at check-in and check out. Some of this could’ve been avoided likely we had figured out better how to locate this info in the VRBO description or be more familiar with WhatsApp - some user error for sure. I will note the key upon arrival is in a lockbox at the door so you need a code. Parking is super convenient if use Mario’s person.

Without a car we thought this would be the best location as so much is just a few minutes walk from the apartment. Bakeries, restaurants, ice cream shops and mini markets can be found all very close by. The apartment puts you right at the heart of Ortigia life with the Duomo (cathederal) being at the end of the street right opposite the front door. We are happy to recommend this apartment to anyone thinking of visiting the Syracuse area in general, and Ortigia in particular.

Mario, the host is amazing. He made sure we had everything we needed and also booked the parking garage for us. The parking garage is very close to the apartment which made it easy for us with the luggage and kids. Location is perfect with a nice view. The city of Ortigia is absolutely stunning. My only complaint is that we should have stayed longer.

This place is in the middle of Ortigia and was an excellent place to stay to see all the sights. It was clean and easy to access. mario the host was an excellent communicator. He responded immediately to all questions. I can highly recommend staying at this apartment.

Wonderful Casa

Our stay in Ortigia and at the Casa dei Leoni were the highlight of our trip to Sicily. All the details about the property are accurate and as described. The comfortable, spacious and light-filled apartment is situated at the very heart of the island and is only a two-minute walk to the central Piazza Duomo. It overlooks a major pedestrian thoroughfare lined with shops, cafes, restaurants, etc., yet the street life is never intrusive, and the bedroom is recessed at the far end of the apartment. Our gracious host, Mario, could not have been more diligent in his communications with us, guiding us through every step of check-in/check-out (he even went out of his way to secure parking space--essential!--for us after some initial confusion). The House of the Lions receives our most enthusiastic recommendation!

Beautiful apartment in the heart of Ortigia!

We loved this apartment so much. The location of the apartment is perfect and if was so easy to walk everywhere. The place is beautifully decorated and was spotlessly clean. There is a beautiful balcony looking out over the cathedral. Mario was so helpful and was able to reserve us a garage spot nearby and even sent a list of recommended restaurants. Five stars all around! We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Ortigia.

I recently had the pleasure of staying in a wonderful apartment Casa Dei Leoni in Ortigia, Sicily, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The apartment was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully equipped with all the appliances needed for a comfortable vacation. Its central location was a major highlight, allowing us to explore the vibrant area with ease—all major attractions were within walking distance. (We did had a car so I could not comments on the parking situation.) The decor of the apartment was charming and created a very inviting atmosphere. It comfortably accommodated our group of four adults, making it a perfect choice for our stay. The attention to detail in the decor and the overall comfort of the space added to our enjoyment. The only minor drawback was that the bathroom was a bit small for someone of my size, but it was manageable and didn’t detract significantly from the overall positive experience. I highly recommend this apartment for anyone visiting Ortigia. It offers a great blend of comfort, convenience, and style.

Romantic getaway in the heart of Ortigia

My partner and I loved our stay at Casa de Leoni (June 2024). The photos undersell how pretty the apartment is, and what an awesome location. This is on via Roma, one of the original arterial streets in Ortigia, at the intersection with a broad street to the Piazza Duomo. We could pop outside in the mornings for takeout cappuccino and granita and brioche, 5 minutes stroll to the local beach, and 5-15 minutes walk to dozens of excellent restaurants. The front of the apartment offers a tiny balcony (bistro table and chairs) where we could hear the church bells, local opera singer practicing on the plaza, and kids playing; the apartment also sports a fully-functional kitchen, washing machine, and quiet and cool bedroom. Our local guide pronounced this site as “the perfect location in all of Ortigia”. Our host was extremely responsive and checked in on us and answered questions about our visit. Highly recommend this site and wish we could have stayed longer!

Lovely apartment

We loved our stay in Ortigia. The apartment was clean and well appointed. The kitchen was well supplied. Cooking was easy. The bedroom was in the back of the apartment so it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The location was perfect, with a view out onto the piazza. We would definitely stay here again.
