Esperienza negativa e da dimenticare.

Premetto che altre volte sono stato in questo hotel e mi sono trovato bene. L'esperienza avuta questa volta, purtroppo, è stata molto negativa. Al momento del check-in ho chiesto SE ERA POSSIBILE avere una stanza con vista mare e mi è stato detto si . Quando sono entrato in camera (n° 309) ho visto che l'affaccio dava sul parcheggio di un supermercato. E vabbè.... Ho cenato al ristorante e sebbene la persona addetta alla sala si è mostrata molto gentile, il servizio offerto non è stato dei migliori. Per quanto riguarda la camera invece: nel bagno mancava l'acqua fredda, sia nel lavabo, che nel bidet ed anche nella doccia. Lo scarico del WC perdeva causando un fastidioso e continuo rumore udibile anche con la porta del bagno chiusa. Sono riuscito a prendere sonno nelle prime ore del mattino ma il rumore della pioggia che batteva su una pensilina in plastica installata sotto la finestra (al piano inferiore) mi ha imposto di alzarmi, rivestirmi e, dopo un caffè nella sala colazione, andare via. Dopo il check-out ho segnalato tutto alla reception ricevendo le scuse della persona addetta. In definitiva, durante il viaggio ho dovuto trovare un'altra struttura (sebbene in pieno giorno) per riposare e per usufruire della doccia che, come ho già scritto, in mancanza di acqua fredda non avevo potuto utilizzare in questo hotel che, tra l'altro, vanta anche 4 stelle che sarebbero meritate solo se si prestasse attenzione ai clienti ed una minima manutenzione alla struttura.

Purtroppo non mi è possibile recensire l'Hotel, in quanto all'arrivo con mio grande stupore non avevano più camere e la mia prenotazione (CONFERMATA!) non risultava da nessuna parte. Per mia fortuna ho potuto mostrare la stampa della prenotazione che come da mia abitudine conservo durante il viaggio. Solo allora, il personale alla reception, si è prodigato, ricercando 2 camere triple nelle strutture della cittadina. Ad oggi non ho ancora compreso chi abbia commesso quest'errore.

Finalmente una vacanza meravigliosa

Abbiamo passato due settimane da sogno. Il titolare, persona splendida e preparatissima, ci ha offerto molto di più di quello che avevamo concordato inizialmente. La camera era grandissima, con spogliatoio annesso, e magnificamente attrezzata, gestita e pulita: abbiamo avuto finanche una macchina per il caffè in camera (con le cialde)! Le coccole non finiscono qui: è pericolosissimo andare a fare colazione perché si può spaziare dai cannoli siciliani confezionati all'istante, a dolci della casa fatti da una espertissima pasticciera che era lì tutte le mattine. Il rustico? Prosciutto tagliato in quel momento (raccomando i cornetti al prosciutto e formaggio) salumi deliziosi e formaggi ricercati. E poi il bar con caffè, cappuccini, tè, succhi e molto, molto altro. Il personale è naturalmente disponibile, comunicativo e simpatico, nessuno escluso! E non parliamo della cucina ... uno chef disponibilissimo che ci ha fatto "avere le visioni" (giuro che non esagero). Una menzione di grande merito al personale del Front Office: simpatici, comunicativi ma molto preparati professionalmente. Una vacanza eccezionale, provare per credere. In ultimo, ma non ultimo, c'è il bergamotto. Noi pensavamo che servisse solo per i profumi: non è vero. Il bergamotto in cucina, nelle salse, nelle marmellate, nel cioccolato ... vi farà sognare. Forse non ho detto tutto, andateci e capirete quante cose ho dimenticato.

Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet. Direkte Anbindung zur Autobahn und Fähre übersetzer nach Messina. Trotzalldem viel zu teuer die Übernachtungs Preise. Ist ein altes Hotel

Tutto sommato è stato un buon soggiorno. La posizione dell'hotel ottima a circa 200 m dalla stazione dei treni e dall'imbarco dei traghetti. Parcheggio gratuito, il personale gentile e sempre a disposizione. La colazione abbondante. La camera che ci hanno dato era molto spaziosa, la porta principale é antiquata il Wi-Fi al quarto piano era lento, pulizia della camera buona.

Good Value/ Close to Ferry

We stayed here after a long drive from Matera. We were arriving late and wanted something close to the ferry so we leave for Sicily early the next morning. Our stay couldn't have been more pleasant. The staff went out of their way to be of assistance and wait staff in the restaurant made our evening memorable. The hotel was clean, our room very comfortable and the staff outstanding. A great value for the price!!

Expected better

The hotel seems ok on arrival, but the room was disappointing. We did not expect a 5 star establishment, but we did expect the facilities to be better. The shower was very small, however most showers in Italy are small, however the water was not terribly hot, and the shower head did not stay up on the adjustable rail, so we just let it dangle down, and washed with one hand. The fridge did not work, and my wife had medication which had to be refrigerated, so we had to keep it in the bar downstairs. The staff were very courteous and helpfull, but there was no bell service to carry the luggage upstairs, or back down on checkout. But they did provide free car service to the station, and the gentleman did help carry the luggage up to the platform. The food at breakfast was also satisfactory. I believe in it's hey day the hotel was very good, but it is extremely tired, and the rooms need a serious renovation.

Just a over nighter

The area that the hotel is in quite poor garbage and not clean, but you would be quite surprised at the mall down the road it's quite nice. Hotel is a little older but I'm sure it was nice in it's time staff are nice very good to talk to over all was okay good stop if your hitting the ferry up to Messina

Flot hotel til overnatning før færgeoverfart til Sicilien. Luxushotel til rimelig pris. Byen er ikke noget at skrive hjem om.

Lovely hotel in the centre of the town.

We were travelling between Sicily and Bari on the Italian mainland. This hotel is close to the ferry terminal and was ideal for us as we arrived late at night. The staff were great, very helpful and willing to assist. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Absulutly no complaints about the hotel or staff.

Nice hotel close to port and shopping.

We spent 6 days at this hotel. It was very convenient to explore the Calabria region of Italy. The ferry to Sicily is only a few blocks away. San Giovanni is a quiet town with exceptional charm. The hotel has an excellent view of the strait, excellent restaurant and a dedicated friendly staff.

Fine for a stopover

We took the ferry from Messina and stayed overnight in Villa S Giovanni so we could catch the train next morning. The town itself has not much to offer. The hotel is a bit worn and needs a makeover but the room was clean and the bed comfortable. It had a spa jet shower which was fun. We decided to eat at the hotel but as we ate only vegetarian there was minimal choice. Can't comment on the rest of the menu. The manager was charming, spoke good English and tried to be helpful. There seems to be an issue with the air conditioning which as other reviewers have said is not able to be used. So the rooms are stuffy unless you open the windows. This was not so bad in early May but would be a big problem in the heat of summer. The breakfast was extensive and enjoyable.

Very helpful staff, especially in the restaurant. Room needed more pillows and a better hair dryer. Current one a bit archaic. Bit of a hospital feel in the halls

Very Disappointing...

Would not rate this a 4*- too expensive for what you get! Hotel in much need of update - old, and old! Looks nice from outside & main lobby - but that's it. We ate at the hotel as there was no where else, food & service was very good. Hotel is located in Ferry area, and therefore not a nice part of town, tried going for a walk at night but not pleasant - was hoping for a room with view of strait of Messina, but did not happen...The staff were very good, helpful and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Unfortunately, the previous reviews on this one are correct.
