“A really old-fashioned Japanese onsen experience like nothing else. We ate in the Japanese restaurant one night and French the other evening. The food was fantastic. Rooms were comfortable but old fashioned. I would highly recommend the room with a private onsen - we saw tanuke (Japanese raccoon dogs) approach whilst we were bathing which was a really special experience. We hiked to the ridge (5 hours return) through a beautiful forest.”

“Our stay at the Ryokan Tsuchi to Ito was nothing short of a dream. The ryokan itself is beautiful with gorgeous details and comfort in every corner. The host, Kimi, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for, and provided wonderful recommendations as we spent our days exploring Nagano. The food is absolutely exceptional, and you can tell they take great pride in the food they grow and Kimi’s mom is an incredible cook. We will never forget our stay, and enthusiastically recommend...
